Slowly becoming
I never felt like the protagonist of my own life. Other people always made decisions for me. I was just going with the flow instead of making my own choices. But over the last couple of years, I didn't change, I evolved.
I always doubted I could ever become different from who I used to be. You know that kind of person who's reclusive and has absolutely no social skills? In my head, there was no way out of that. Imagine being awkward for the rest of my life.
Life kept happening, and I slowly realized that nothing is really that deep. Caring about everything, especially about what other people think of me, isn't going to get me anywhere.
It's not my intention to turn this post into a self-help book, but understanding my own insignificance in the world was life-changing. Of course, this mindset might not work for you because I agree it can sound a little cruel to think so little of yourself. I think the secret is not taking it to extremes.
Anyway, I'm happy with my character development and with how I can look back and see a significant and positive difference. My mind has been very kind to me lately, and that's good, really good.
