A small vent

Lately, I haven't felt comfortable talking about being a bisexual woman. I understand that being in a heteronormative relationship is considered a privilege since people on the outside see me as straight. But I'm not straight. And I'm tired of being treated as less LGBTQIA+ by the community itself.

I can't date a man because that's supposedly too much privilege. I can't date a woman because then I'd be a lesbian.

Logging into social media and constantly coming across biphobic posts during Pride Month has been really upsetting. I had already stepped away because I wanted to cut back on my social media use, but the hateful comments have become the main reason I've stayed away.

Meanwhile, things have been going well at my new job, with one exception: a coworker doesn't like me simply because I pointed out one of her mistakes. I don't know if she felt challenged by someone who has been with the company for less time than she has, but judging by the message she sent me, I think that's probably the case.

It hasn't been stressing me out at all. Quite the opposite, I genuinely don't care. But I did find it funny, I have to admit.

I've been wishing time would pass faster so everything could settle down and I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of day-to-day life. At the same time, I've been wanting time to slow down so I can enjoy my hobbies and spend time with the people I love.
