While old Atari games as premiums are normally just somewhat newsworthy, this amazing retro packaging is what we found to be particularly interesting. How 1970s! Each PC game is free with a kid's meal or about $1.49 separately.

A rarely-seen Pre-Toy Fair catalog has been posted to the great TFWiki.net showcasing alternate deco, label-free designs, and more-or-less mock-ups for some of the first "new" Transformers ever made. (Remember, the first few years were culled from existing Japanese toy lines.) Highlights include very different combiner teams, Hot Rod with clear windows, and other oddities like this slightly different Wheelie.

Xbox 360 owners, it's time for Toy Soldiers, a strategy game where you control toys from a toy box. It seems someone out there really understands us, what with LEGO Star Wars and now this. We'd also like to push for a game based on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures, but we digress. Toy Soldiers is $15/1,200 points and is supposedly exclusive to the platform.

The boys from Devo threw up a splash page with a new song called "Fresh" which, unsurprisingly, sounds a lot like Devo. Since you can hear the whole thing for free, you might as well.

Also, frontdude of the B-52s Fred Schneider has yet another side project called The Superions. They put out an EP, and so far it looks like they have a grand total of three songs plus remixes. It's no "Just Fred" but really, what is?

First up: The guys at Geek Week were given the exclusive official word that Comic-Con in San Diego will see the release of a new, 25th Anniversary-style Sgt Slaughter action figure. How about that? There will be two variations.

Also, the G.I. Joe Convention Exclusive Cobra Interrogator has been revealed. There's also a face behind the mask, but it remains unseen. Neat! We think.

Since it wasn't mentioned in previous Toy Fair coverage, we were a little surprised to see the LEGO Minifigure Collectors Box at LEGO.com yesterday. It has a handle and 15 compartments to store figures for about $15, which, in theory, seems neat. But who has only 15 figures to show off? If this thing had an exclusive figure, though, odds are we'd cave in.

Also new and notable are Kingdoms sets #30061 and #30062, which seem to be two presumably polybagged sets. We don't know when these are officially hitting (or where) but they sure look like Q4 items in Target's holiday section for stocking stuffers. If this is the case, we'll probably score both.

Now that the toys have hit, Toys "R" Us has a sale-- 2 figures in the 3 3/4-inch scale can be yours for $10.99. It's worth noting that there were very few non-Iron Man figures when we looked, but your mileage will of course vary.

You probably heard of the fan-made Mega Man 9 HD remake but if you haven't, that video is a pretty swell showing of a redrawn, reworked for 16x9 displays, recomposed game. The art loses a lot of its charm in high definition, but it's still a stunning example of a fan project in this space.

Also, The Magic Box posted screens of Sega's After Burner Climax coming soon to PSN and XBLA. Kinda neat, we guess. The same site posted Castlevania: Lords of Shadow images which, frankly, aren't doing it for us at all.

If you haven't seen it, or want to see some clear shots, Happinet has the new USB Device Label Blaster/Broadcast up. For about $70 we'd expect a little more, so you may want to hold off for this summer's Comic-Con G1 reissue. Interestingly, the Device Label toy can indeed store a G1 "tape" in his chest. Big points for that.

How excited are we? It's our top story, that's how excited.

Music archive Southern Shelter posted a live reunion show from Man or Astro-Man and it's really good. The sound quality is great and the songs are essentially all of their best works (although we'd like more from 1000X) and best of all, it's a free download. If you are curious about what surf music sounds like when played far too fast and with computer effects, well, here you go. This was our favorite band in high school so do kindly check it out.

This week's WiiWare offerings are Dracula - Undead Awakening and Max & The Magic Marker, each for $10/1,000 Wii points. But allow us to direct your gaze this way.

Virtual Console fans, it's Final Fantasy II from the Super NES, a wonderful, classic, fantastic RPG from Square. And it's $8, which is less than we expected given their proclivity to overcharge for some of the better games. (It's called counterprogramming.)

It appears this Dracula game is being released on basically everything. Nintendo.com says: "Uncover devastating firepower such as machine guns, buzz-saws and flamethrowers, choosing upgrades for them as well as unique new perks for your character as your enemies increase in number and ferocity."

We're receiving some reports (but not seeing these ourselves) that Ross stores ("Dress for Less" Ross) are getting in the Ambush of Cobra Island and Defense of Cobra Island online exclusive Hasbro gift sets for $16.99 a pop-- a freaking bargain. Each set has 7 pretty great figures, and the Cobra set is a must-buy for fans of the 25th Anniversary line. Get it if you can find it!

If you've never heard it, Iggy & The Stooges' album "Raw Power" is one of the best you can buy. Ever. Other bands wish they could make an album like this and can't. It's pretty legendary, because of scores of amazing unreleased material from this time period, alternate mixes, and all sorts of amazing stories, legends, and egg-throwing. Taking a cue from Warner's speciality labels, Sony announced pre-orders for Legacy and Deluxe editions of the album which includes the original David Bowie mix and not the Iggy Pop mix from the 1990s. And bonus tracks. And a live show. And if you buy the more expensive version, knick-knacks and other stuff. Arguably worth your attention if you are in to such things.

This week's WiiWare offerings are not so hot, partially because the Virtual Console offering dwarfs most of what was released on consoles in 2010. Rage of the Gladiator and Triple Shot Sports are what you'll be ignoring so you can get a classic title instead.

Virtual Console fans, it's Castlevania: Rondo of Blood from the TurboGrafx-16, a truly tremendous classic game for $9/900 points. Never released in the USA, it's one of those things that should make you glad you kept your Wii. It's in Japanese, but hey-- $9 is less than the $100 or more a PC-Engine CD version costs.

Got a DSi? This week: Zoo Frenzy, 101 MiniGolf World, Battle of Giants: Dinosaurs -- Fight for Survival, and Car Jack Streets. These range from $5 to $8. That's the dinosaur game in the picture, surely there must be better images of a game where you have dinosaurs literally fighting for survival.

Coming soon to an arcade-- and so far, not a console-- near you is Pac-Man Battle Royale, which may be the bestest thing ever. It's like the Xbox 360 game Pac-Man Championship Edition but with four players. You can play as Pac-Man and eat other players as Pac-Man. That's incredible-- and the video at Game Set Watch looks good, too!

Hey kids, it's time for Hasbro Q&A! We sent in two questions, and we got back a couple of responses. Here they are:

Q: The new Vintage figures look great, right down to the Kenner logo and original non-J hook to hang the figures by on a peg. This raises the question, will the figures be manufactured with the little black cardboard thing that needs to be punched-out or will the figures come from the factory pre-punched? (We may have to try to get figures before they hit the pegs if they're unpunched from the factory.)

A: It's something we were asked quite a lot about at Toy Fair, and we are looking into whether we can make the punch "shallow" enough that a good number could make it to retail in the cases. However, if there's a chance that this could damage any packages when retailers put them on the peg (tearing the litho of the card, for instance) then we won't be able to do this.

Q: In 2004, the good souls at Hasbro let fans vote on the final figure in the original OTC assortments, which was a nice repainted rerelease of the then-tough-to-get Imperial Scanning Trooper. (That was awesome.) What are the chances you can bring back this to Fan's Choice-- give us a selection of 5 or so figures to rerun on a vintage card that you were considering from the "parking lot," so we can buy it on the new fancy packaging were we so inclined? (Because you know, vintage Yak Face [even on a ROTJ card] would be totally awesome.)

A: We admit that the announcement of the Vintage cards does cast a new light on the Fans' Choice vote that just wrapped; nostalgia could have an even greater motivating factor knowing that the figure will appear on a Vintage card. It's an interesting suggestion and we'll think about it. Thanks.

The formerly exclusive-to-Wal-Mart wave of figures plus Metallo are apparently returning to MattyCollector.com according to the web store. The wave returns May 17 and includes Eradicator, Black Lightning, Amazo, The Riddler, and The Atom. Pricing is not yet confirmed, but they did say the figures will be totally identical to the previous releases-- no changes to figures or packaging.

Did you miss Willie Scott, Short Round, Mola Ram, and the others when the line up and died in 2008? You're not alone. It seems either old stock (or perhaps new stock) is surfacing in Asia of loose Indiana Jones figures in lots of 6-10 figures for, seemingly, reasonable prices. We aren't going to endorse this or point out any as we do not know ourselves the origins of these figures, but hey, just a heads-up for those in the market for such things.

Through some nifty photos, the full extent as to why the Transformers Power Core Combiners sub-line coming later this summer are awesome has been revealed. Through this auction you can see that the upcoming $10 "Scout"-class toys aren't just nice figures with a Mini-Con. It turns out that they also were designed to combine with the limbs from the larger Power Core Combiner sets, so you can see Smolder connected with alternate limbs and a different head. It's pretty swell. We are pleased.

A few years ago we reviewed the CD Luxo Champ, a great CD EP that was basically the only findable document of a band you've never heard of. We finally found images of Duster, a 7-inch from the band which we are now trying to find to buy/listen to/whatever. Do you have a lead? Let us know!

You no doubt heard that the newest iteration of the Nintendo DS-- the Nintendo DSi XL-- is coming to retail this week. Nintendo decided to do you a favor and let you know another DS was coming, this time one that is being designed with some sort of simulated 3D in mind. Fancy! So save your money on the XL, kids. Kotaku has a nice round-up of the information so far.

3D joystick, force feedback, and some sort of accelerometer sound like nifty additions, assuming developers get the most out of them. Also, it might be hitting this year. We'll believe it when we see it.

The KOToys.com forums added even more shots of Hasbro's upcoming Transformers Power Core Combiners line. Of particular note are lots of images showcasing them compared to other toys, including Star Wars action figures. They're not huge, but a decent size.

In a bit of news that's actually a little stunning, Microsoft will be allowing USB support of storage on its Xbox 360 console in a few weeks. In a market where more and more manufacturers seem intent on locking down consumers and forcing the purchase of branded, licensed goods, this is pretty shocking.

Less shocking is that there's a storage cap-- you're only allowed to use 2 16 gigabyte devices total. Still, not bad, particularly if you don't yet have a hard drive.

If you pre-order the LEGO MMO, you can also get an exclusive "free" figure (pictured) with it. The cost of the game and exact date of pre-order are not yet announced, but for your LEGO junkies who collect this stuff something fierce, we feel for you. This page will have details eventually and it says the approximate retail value is $2.99. As we have purchased LEGO on eBay before, we all know this to be a total lie.

If you're a fan club member, Issue #32 of the Transformers Collectors Club Magazine has some fancy-pants spread showing off the new Power Core Combiners line and some interviews. As we are not paying members, we don't know if it's cool or not, but we assume it is. Watch your mailboxes!

The club also confirmed they're looking to up the run of their exclusive Punch/Counterpunch. It also seems that they are being made as we speak (sans heads) if this auction means anything. Kinda neat, no?

Also, if you're still reading, it appears most Target stores have suddenly dumped or hid their recent exclusives, including the Legends 2-packs we were meaning to get. So if you have them in your neighborhood, it may not be for long-- heads-up!

If you're anything like us, you've always wanted to see Jane Austen or one of the Bronte sisters eaten by bloodthirsty undead monsters. Apparently owners of iPhones will soon be able to experience this through a new game revealed at 1up.com which shows that the iPhone really will allow developers to do quirky games fast. The game is developed by Freeverse, and as non-phone-gamers that means nothing to us either.

On the Matty Collector boards, Toyguru confirms a 4-pack of Ghostbusters may be coming down the road without too many specifics, proving that Mattel is in fact not allergic to money as many have speculated.
