LowFundWala, startup to create videos for startups

By Vasudev Ram

LowFundWala is a recent Indian startup that creates videos for other startups (and also for established companies). They call themselves a startup for startups.

I read about it a newspaper. The concept seems interesting and useful. They also claim to have got some early traction, a.k.a. customers and revenue (unlike the wannabe Zuck type of startup :)

I read in the newspaper that they do videos ranging from low priced to high priced ones.

Promotion of startups' products is one of the applications of the videos they make. They are also supposed to me somewhat of an end-to-end outfit, in that they do everything related to the video themselves, instead of getting parts of the work done by others.

LowFundWala may be worth checking out for Indian or other startups that want to get some videos made for such purposes.

Here is an article about LowFundWala on indianweb2.com.

Good post about marketing, for software developers

Marketing = Hacking the Human | Successful Software

The above is a good post about the importance of marketing for software products, by Andy Brice, whose writings I've quoted a few times before, on my blog or Twitter. Andy has been in the software field for a while, and has a successful software product, Perfect Table Plan.

Peterpings, SaaS app to tell many tech blogs about your app

iPhone App Marketing. Notify Over 150 Tech Blogs About Your New App - Peterpings

Interesting idea.

Seen via Hacker News.

HN thread about it has many positive comments:

http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4992585

Seems to be only for iPhone apps, though.

It should be possible to make such an app for other platforms like desktop, web and other mobile platforms like Android.

Marshall Kirkpatrick, CEO Plexus Engine, a data mining startup for marketers

Marshall Kirkpatrick - AngelList

Marshall Kirkpatrick is now CEO of Plexus Engine, a  data mining startup for marketers.

He was earlier with ReadWriteWeb and TechCrunch.

I remember enjoying reading some of his articles - he seemed to have some insight into things.

Good luck to him.

P.S. Just saw that, according to the site, Tim O'Reilly called it "Really powerful."

Marketing for programmers - nice HN thread

By Vasudev Ram

Saw this thread on Hacker News. It is about marketing for software developers. Thought it was interesting, both in general, and because I've needed to do, and have done, some amount of marketing for my own consulting work as an independent developer.

Marketing is actually fun, interesting and challenging. In my own case, I've really only done marketing of the inbound kind.

I happened to stumble across or discover some of the techniques, more by osmosis than by intention, over a period of time, via reading about various topics on blogs, and slowly started applying them, initially without even properly realizing that I was doing so, and later on, consciously doing it. There is a lot to it - it is not a small field.

The HN thread was sparked by this post:

Being a Developer Makes You Valuable. Learning How to Market Makes You Dangerous

A slightly overly fanciful post title, I thought (the word "dangerous"). But the article was still interesting. I found the HN discussion more interesting.

Why get it free when you can pay? :)

Why Louis CK and Amanda Palmer are the future of content | Tech News and Analysis

Nice one. I should mention that I like this approach, am not against it, as may seem from the title, to some people. Basically, I'm in favor of anything that works out well for all involved parties, and this is an innovative approach. Also see Paulo Coelho on more on the same - publicising pirated sites for his ebooks resulted in more sales. I blogged about that quite a while back, maybe on my earlier blog Jugad's Journal.

Stimulating links on selling tech ebooks and pricing

Here they are, below:

The links are not all about the exact same topic, but do overlap some; the first is a story of a guy's experience selling his tech ebook (with moderate success), and I saw the other links in comments in the first link (a Hacker News thread).
