I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude lately, and have previously written about it on SciLight here. The science behind gratitude is well established. But my reflections on gratitude this week are deeply personal. They relate to my dad. August 18 is his birthday. Born on 8-18-18, he would be 108 years old this week.
Most mornings, before I look at my phone, check my email, or speak a word to anyone, I sit quietly for 15 minutes and meditate, sometimes with an app for guidance.
On July 22, the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology convened a hearing called “Unleashing the Golden Age of Science: Examining the Priorities of the FY2027 Research and Technology Enterprise.” The hypocrisy appeared to be right there in the hearing title.
