Stepping into the role of Emory University’s interim president, Justice Leah Ward Sears brought with her quite a legacy: a former chief justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, the youngest person ever to sit on that court, and the first African-American female chief justice of any state supreme court in the United States.

There have been a flurry of leadership changes at my university, most of which make me quite pleased.
