Marketing lessons from my favorite restaurant

I’m unashamed to say that I’ve visited both locations of my favourite restaurant at least 3 times each in one year, and I’ve never had a bad moment. Too many times, I’ve seen small businesses with so much potential struggle to gain the presence they aspire for because they do too much.

Here are 3 branding tips I learned from being a customer.

I always order their Asian-inspired dishes because they’re exceptional, and everyone raves about them.

Find something your business/brand can execute excellently and make it your hero product. Without a hero product, you get lost in the crowd.

Both locations have excellent customer service and stunning views of their respective cities. There’s also the option to watch the kitchen crew prepare the meals if you get the right seat.

If you want to keep your customers coming back for more bites of your mouthwatering products, then you should treat them like VIP guests. From customer service to product delivery, your guests should feel well taken care of.

I know to expect tapas-style meals because the key message is “chef-inspired” meals produced from fresh ingredients.

The message is consistent on all touchpoints and also shows in their service.

Your messaging should be straightforward and should provide a frame of reference for your customers.

If you’re just starting, focus on doing one thing well, one promise and one message. Keep it short, sweet, easy to understand and simple.
