Hello Style Pantry friends,

I’m heading to New York next weekend for Luke’s choir performance, and while I was pulling things together, I went down a rabbit hole of old photos. Found one from 2016. Fewer wrinkles. Same mirror selfie energy.

I’m wearing an Ace & Jig dress I paid $350 for, an Elizabeth Suzann cocoon jacket at $375, and Rachel Comey boots that were $400. At the time those numbers felt considered. A little indulgent, honestly.

But here’s the thing, I would pack that exact outfit for this trip.

Nothing has dated itself. The dress still works. The jacket drapes exactly the same. The boots are broken in now, which just makes them better. Eight years later and I’m not trying to replace any of it. That tells you something.

It got me thinking about what actually makes something hold up.
