My favorite place to photograph and also relax is by the coast, sea or lake. It is the perfect place for me to calm down, contemplate and enjoy the beautiful nature we live in. I love hearing the waves and pulse of the sea and smell the freshness of the air. It makes me happy, gives me lots of energy and inspiration to take photos. Maybe that’s why my surname means sea stone (sjö=sea, sten=stone), and maybe this is the reason for my photography?! At least I always end up with a lot of photos after a session at the coast. Since I also like to use ND-filter to smoothen the sea/waves the best time to shoot is often at sunset, dusk or sunrise when there is less light and contrast. I have found a good place/location for my photo sessions by the coast and I always revisit these places to capture more and to experiment with new ideas.

I spend a lot of time processing my coastal shots when developing them into black & white photos. They do well as prints on Fine Art paper and are highly appreciated by the audience when shown at my exhibitions. Did you find your favorite also?
