Just joshinnn’. Sorta 😏.

Julie’s husband and the three of us spent two hours making eight recipes (scroll down to grab them). We doubled and tripled everything so she’d have enough meals to carry her through those hazy newborn weeks.

Postpartum meal prep party (noun): A gathering where friends and family come together joyfully to stock a new mom’s fridge/freezer with nourishing meals before baby arrives.

We turned on some tunes and everyone was in charge of their own recipe. Before we knew it, the counters were covered in containers ready for Julie's freezer. It was truly so much fun for us!!!! It’s almost like we could feel the magic in the air.

There is something really special about cooking WITH the people you love and FOR the people you love! We felt like we were infusing our heart and soul energetically into every recipe. That is arguably its own type of nourishment!

Between the three of us sisters, we’ve given birth six times. We stand by this:

After birth, a woman's body is recovering from so much more than just a lack of sleep. Iron stores take a hit from blood loss in delivery (lots of things leave your bodyyyy lol), key nutrients like B12, choline, vitamin D, and omega-3s get used up fueling pregnancy — and even more if she’s breastfeeding. Then, almost overnight your hormones completely shift gears.

If we don’t intentionally replenish those nutrients, it can show up as:

• exhaustion
• brain fog
• slower healing
• hair loss
• mood swings
• anxiety or depression
• lower milk supply

Postpartum mommas need more than just staying off their feet. Food = fuel. Food = healing. We must focus on replenishing what pregnancy and birth takes out of us to help make for a smoother recovery and postpartum experience.

To this day, Julie still talks about how having nutrient-dense food on hand in the first month took a massive load off her shoulders. To us, there is no better gift to give.

Imagine coming home from the hospital knowing breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and even nourishing desserts are already waiting for you. You don’t need to go grocery shopping or worry about chopping vegetables while you’re holding a newborn. You don't have to stand in front of the fridge wondering what the fahk to eat while running on negative three hours of sleep. What a dreammmmmmm.

So consider this your official invitation. Gather your sisters, your best friends, your mom, your partner, or your weird-a$s neighbor. Turn on some music, assign everyone a recipe, and spend an afternoon stocking a freezer full of love!!!!

TRUST US — the future you (or the new mom in your life) will be ridiculously grateful.

Alrighty... let’s cook!!

The best snack you can eat with your one free hand. We used this vanilla protein (code BALANCEDBEYARS)

Grab & go when the breastfeeding hanger hits at 2am. We added in bone broth unflavored protein for this recipe (15% off with our link!).

We also made another version that contains more fats & carbs. Recipe below:

Ingredients *makes 28 balls!

  • 2 cups organic oats

  • 1 ⅓ cups toasted shredded coconut

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

  • ½ cup ground hemp seeds

  • ½ cup ground pumpkin seeds (OR use 1 cup ground flax instead of pumpkin/hemp!)

  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips

  • 2/3 cup honey

  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 scoops vanilla protein (code BALANCED10)

Steps:

  • Mix everything together, chill for about 15 mins in the fridge (to firm up if needed), then scoop into balls. Store in the fridge (or freeze!). Makes about 28 balls.

  • * Use a kitchen aid to mix everything and a cookie scooper to make the perfect balls

Alaina originally made these for Carly’s second postpartum. They are an all time fave that all three of us continue to adapt for our weekly meal preps. If you are going to make anything from this list for a new mom… let it be this. NO NOTES.

Between the three of us, we always battle it out for what’s superior — frittatas or quiches. LOL. You honestly can’t go wrong with either!

We used the full bag of King Arthur Gluten Free Pancake mix and followed the instructions on the bag. We used organic full-fat whole milk and also added 3 full scoops of vanilla protein powder (code BALANCEDBEYARS).

Some recipe notes: Make sure you don’t over-blend the recipe. You want it to sit a little. We think we over-blended, which made them bake a bit differently, but they still tasted great! Make sure you take note of the type of flour too! We love King Arthur organic or gluten-free almond or oat flour. These are the parchment paper cupcake/muffin liners we used.

These gut gummies are packed with bovine gelatin, which provides amino acids that support gut lining repair, digestion, skin, hair, nails, joints, and connective tissue. Plus, they’re an easy way to stay hydrated and get in a little extra protein during the busy postpartum season.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Pour the juice into a pot and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Let it bloom for 5 to 10 minutes (don’t turn on the heat yet!).

  2. Heat on low to medium, whisking until the gelatin completely dissolves (1 to 2 minutes).

  3. Pour into a glass dish and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.

  4. Cut into cubes and store in the fridge for up to 1 week.

DO NOT sleep on the healing power of bone broth. We always stock up on our favorite FOND bone broth (code JUSTAPHASE) to sip on in a mug like tea, or to add to rice, soup, stew, shepherd’s pie, etc.

Gather your people, batch those recipes, and stock that freezer. It’s one of the most thoughtful ways to show your loving support!!!!

Every phase, together.
