When I talk with ABC News veteran and truth-teller , I’m struck by how some conversations never really stop. They just pause. Months can pass and then you’re right back in it, mid-thought, mid-laugh. Some folks just make you feel comfortable that way. Quite unexpectedly, I feel that way with Terry. This is our second conversation on Substack and I enjoyed each minute.
We joked about launching The Terry and Ava Show, discussed everything from the late, great Rob Reiner to recent chatterbox Susan Wiles, plus shared our next projects. I learned about Terry’s upcoming book, which I’m actually very excited about. And I discussed the breaking news about my newest project which was just announced an hour before we went live...
It’s a modern day heist movie wrapped in a romantic adventure. And the action is centered around something that’s very real: the Benin Bronzes, stolen objects with an extremely complicated past, present and future (to say the least). Think “Ocean’s Eleven” energy with a deeper question humming underneath.
I’m especially excited to reunite with my brother from another mother David Oyelowo on this one. It’ll be our first major feature film together since SELMA.
David brought the project to my attention and I’m thrilled that he did. There’s a particular joy in returning to trusted collaborations. And David is my most trusted.
In this conversation, Terry, as always, brought clarity, perspective and a willingness to say the quiet part out loud to our talk. That’s one of the many reasons I value chatting with him so much. I look forward to the next time.
Big thanks to , , , , , and many others for tuning in.
