Spekingr Trent East and Folkbuilder Chris Savich discuss the Oera Lina book. Why doesn’t the Ásatrú Folk Assembly view the Oera Linda Book as some sort of lost history, or divine revelation? Tune in and find out!
The Oera Linda Book is a manuscript, created in the 1860s by Francois Haverschmidt and Cornelis Over de Linden, purporting to tell the true history of Europe, it’s descent from the ancient Dutchmen who lived on Atlantis in the North Sea, their matriarchal monotheistic communistic utopia, and the fall of said utopia due to the rise of patriarchy and property rights.
Despite a very small but very vocal “truther” community that argues that the book is a legitimate work of history, an enormous number of problems with the text make that claim hard to believe. For example, the paper was made in the 1860s and artificially weathered, despite the manuscript supposedly being centuries old.
Folkbuilder Chris Savich goes over the problems with the text, its contents, and its history. Then, he and Spekingr Trent East discuss the theological errors with the text.
