I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how hard it is to take care of ourselves when we feel like we’re barely hanging on. This is something I’ve struggled with a lot over the past few months, as I’ve faced some pretty big challenges. (I hate to be vague, but for my family’s privacy I’m not quite ready to get into detail about that just yet.)

But even when there aren’t major life changes happening, you know what I’m talking about—from the never-ending pile of dishes in the sink to the constant battle to convince everyone to put shoes on in the morning so we can please not be late for school drop off at least once this week—it feels impossible to add another thing to the list.

Whoever said, “We all have the same 24 hours in a day,” clearly was not a mom of three trying to do everything for everyone at the same time without a break.

But what do we do when we need to make a change? Especially for our own health and wellbeing?!

The problem is, the circumstance isn’t going to change much, at least anytime soon. Three-year-olds don’t suddenly decide to stop making messes just because mom wants to get in a workout (in fact, it’s quite the opposite! #AskMeHowIKnow).

I’ll admit, I usually default to “all or nothing” mode when it comes to new habits or making lifestyle changes. And that’s something I really started challenging myself to break free from over the past several months.

Surprisingly (probably to no one but me…), I found that some of the biggest positive changes I’ve made in my health journey have started with small, quiet yeses.

A little more protein at breakfast. A few more intentional steps throughout the day. Listening to a prayer on Hallow instead of scrolling.

None of these seem very big, but they’ve all had an impact. They’re the kinds of changes that actually stick, not the grand resolutions we abandon after a few weeks (if that).

So that’s what I’ve been leaning into lately, especially this Lent—small shifts that feel doable in real life, not just on Pinterest boards.

And maybe you’ve been feeling that pull to take better care of yourself too. But if you’re anything like me, taking on another new thing can feel overwhelming to say the least.

I’ve been working on something behind the scenes to help you with just that. It’s not quite ready yet, but I can’t wait to share it with you because I know that it will actually help you build better habits with grace (and not guilt).

It’s coming soon, and you’ll be the first to know when it’s ready so stay tuned! And until then, don’t forget to give yourself grace. The daily grind is hard, but you’re not alone!

Always in your corner,

Andrea
