there is actually plenty of time.

I know I’m not the only one feeling as if the end of the year is steam rolling toward us. What I keep reminding myself is that there is actually plenty of time.

Luckily, for us, there are two upcoming shifts that will support and encourage this feeling.

  1. is the equinox portal (Sept 20-22) which is all about balance as we hang is the perfect equilibrium of day-night / light-dark.

  2. The seasonal transition into Spring (specifically for those of us in the south) which is governed by the earth-water elements that are both grounding & refreshing.

Today I want to share with you some practices for this powerful time, a big opportunity for reset and stepping into the rest of 2025 feeling on purpose and clear.

In this post you’ll find:

  • diet & lifestyle tweaks to restore balance

  • physical & energetic cleansing

  • intention & goal setting that lights you up

  • your Spring Glow guide

An Ayurvedic equinox ritual isn't an isolated event. Since Ayurveda considers both body and mind, these rituals involve the most important aspects of our life including what we eat and how we spend our time. Ayurveda brings meaning and purpose into all the aspects of our daily life.

As the heavy, cold winter season shifts to a lighter, warmer spring, focusing on cleansing, invigorating foods and movement.

diet & lifestyle

My approach is to focus on adding the good stuff in (rather than restricting foods that are less favourable) . Add in light, warming foods such as ginger tea, lentils, and bitter greens to counteract the natural increase in Kapha during spring. Tweak your kitchari to include more seasonal spices like turmeric, ginger & triphala.

It would also be very supportive to do a 3 day kitchari cleanse over the equinox days. If you’re in Bali (click here) otherwise see my tried and tested kitchari recipe below.

Now is the time to opt for invigorating and dynamic yoga practice (here is a Spring time practice for you) . Even a quick walk around the block or 10 rounds of sun salutations first thing in the morning is perfect.

physical & energetic cleansing

  • Dry Brushing
Use a silk glove or natural fiber brush (no synthetic bristles) to stimulate the body's detoxification pathways by bringing circulation to the surface of the skin.

  • Neti Pot
If you’re experiencing congestion, allergies or recurring cough/colds, use a neti pot to keep sinuses clear, promoting overall respiratory health and freshness.

  • Abyhunga!
If you’re not already doing it, watch my tutorial here. Use stimulating, light oils like sunflower or sesame oil for a brisk massage to further awaken the body.

  • Baths & Saunas
Both excellent ways to encourage detoxification and reduce excess Kapha

  • Spring Clean your closet

We cover this in the Glow Guide below but one of my fave tips is this.

Once you have gone through the cleanse process. Turn all the hangers in your closet the ‘wrong way’ as you wear each piece, turn it the ‘right way’. By next equinox you’ll be able to see exactly which pieces you didn't wear and what to let go off.
