What I believe: If you know how to make people feel important, they will love being around you.
I only started cold pitching seriously this year, but even with how few pitches I have sent, I have had strong results. I have gotten replies and sometimes meetings or offers from the top guys at companies like Ardova, PwC, Jobberman, and, more recently, from the CEO of AMAU and Dan Martell. Here is the most consistent hack that has worked for me:
The first line should always make the person you are pitching feel important.
How I use this: Instead of opening with an introductory line about myself, I often say something like:
“Hello [Name]. I know you probably have thousands of other messages like this in your inbox, and I know how valuable the minute you will spend reading this is, but here is why I still decided to send this anyway.”
[Rest of pitch]
If you do something like that, they may feel a stronger reason to reply, because you have already shown that you see their time as valuable.
P.s. You can use this for warm pitches too, when you are reaching out to people who already know you. It can increase the chances of them replying earlier and giving your message more attention.. I have and it worked.
P.s.s. My philosophy has always been giving away all the secrets so people can test them and trust me when it works for them. I am mentioning this so you can go test it.
