Joy is something we all have available to us, even when life is tough. We can find joy in the little things, the small pleasures of life.
Perhaps it’s sunshine, laughter, something silly your pet or child did. Maybe you had a delicious homemade meal (maybe someone else made it for you!)
It could be some beautiful flowers you passed on the street, heavily scented with a heady perfume (thank you neighbourhood honeysuckle!)
Maybe a stranger held a door open for you, let you jump the queue, or simply smiled at you and brightened up your day.
Maybe you heard an upbeat song playing; an old favourite that gets you dancing.
Whatever lights you up, you can make a conscious effort to notice these things, to seek them out and savour them.
Why not take 5 minutes out of your day to seek out joy and really soak it up?
It takes at least 30 seconds to imprint on your long-term memory, so slow down and enjoy yourself. You’re worth it!
What does joy look like to you?
Ah, there’s so many places that I find joy! My woodland walks are a great source: fresh air, bird song, tiny creatures to notice, nature all around.
And my kitties bring me endless love and joy, through their affection and their daft games. They don’t need mush to amuse them.
Colour brings me joy, my home is an eclectic mix of art and fabrics from around the globe, offering comfort and inspiration.
And of course my friends and loved ones bring me joy. Spending time with them, having fun, fully present and absorbed in being together.
I’d love to hear any reflections you have on this prompt. 💬
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,
