This time of year comes with a lot of noise about setting goals and starting new habits. But for many of us it’s also the darkest, coldest part of the year too. Energy is lower. Finances can feel tighter. Life doesn’t automatically feel easier just because the calendar changes.
So this week, instead of adding something new, try taking one small thing away.
Notice one tiny source of friction in your day and see if you can reduce it. Nothing dramatic.
It might be turning off one notification, moving something that’s always in the way, or letting one task wait without explaining yourself.
For me, it’s meant turning off most of the notifications on my phone and switching the teabags round in the cupboard so the ones I like in the morning are closest. It won’t fix anything - but it has made my days feel a little smoother.
The aim isn’t self-improvement or personal growth.
