Honest question… What happens when the life you once imagined begins to look different from the life you are actively choosing?
On Tuesday, July 21 at 9am PT / 12pm ET, I’m joining Tai Beauchamp and Chiquita Lockley for a live conversation:
This conversation was inspired, in part, by Tai Beauchamp’s deeply personal essay, “I Froze My Eggs. And Now… I Don’t Think I’ll Ever Use Them.” Her story opened the door for women to share their own complicated truths about motherhood, fertility, relationships, caregiving, ambition, grief, and the lives they are building now.
Because for many of us, these questions are not simple:
What if you want children, but motherhood has not happened in the way or on the timeline you expected?
What if (even at your big age) you are still unsure whether you want children at all?
What if you are grieving a possibility, even as you recognize that the life you have created is beautiful?
What if your legacy looks different from the one you were taught to imagine?
And how do we make room for joy while carrying questions that may never come with clean, uncomplicated answers?
I’ll be joining Tai and Chiquita, storyteller, producer, fertility advocate, and producer of the documentary Eggs Over Easy, for an honest and compassionate conversation about the things women too often feel pressured to process quietly.
We will talk about motherhood and otherhood, but also about identity, choice, timing, love, loss, freedom, and the many ways women nurture, create, influence, and leave something meaningful behind.
This will not be a conversation built around telling women what they should want. Lord knows we get enough of that already. It will be a space to tell the truth, question the expectations we have inherited, and imagine what is still possible.
Whether you are navigating fertility decisions, infertility, delayed motherhood, choosing not to have children, caregiving, changing relationships, a demanding career, or simply realizing that your life looks different from the one you planned, there is space for you in this conversation.
I would also love to hear from you before we gather in the comment thread:
What questions about motherhood or otherhood have you been carrying?
What expectations have you had to release or redefine?
What does legacy mean to you now?
Where have you found meaning, love, or joy outside of the traditional life script?
What do you wish more women felt safe enough to say out loud?
Leave your questions or reflections in the comments. We may bring some of them into the live conversation.
Come as you are. Bring your truth, your uncertainty, your wonder, and your hope for the life you still deserve to choose.
Join us live Tuesday, July 21 at 9am PT / 12pm ET via Zoom or Substack LIVE.
