Right now, we are surrounded by hundreds of designers, thousands upon thousands of wedding dresses, more runway shows than we can possibly squeeze into our schedule, and—because buying season should always have a little sparkle—a glass (or two) of champagne.
Bridal Market is one of my favorite parts of owning Velvet Bridal. Every aisle holds something new. We meet designers we’ve never heard of, reconnect with sales reps we’ve known and loved for years, touch every fabric imaginable, and get the first look at gowns that haven’t made their way to Pinterest or social media yet.
And every season, somewhere among all those dresses, a trend begins to emerge.
This year, we didn’t see this one coming.
Chunky. Silver. Beading.
If you know bridal fashion from about 15 years ago, you know. For years, silver beading practically disappeared as bridal moved toward softer sparkle, delicate pearls, tonal embellishments, and barely-there shimmer.
Well... she’s back.
But this isn’t exactly the silver beading we remember. The newest versions feel intentional, dimensional, editorial, and almost jewelry-like. We’re seeing it scattered across bodices, layered into lace, outlining corsetry, and adding just enough cool-toned sparkle to make a gown feel completely different from anything currently hanging in our gallery.
And we keep seeing it.
Different designers. Different aesthetics. Different price points.
Which means we’re calling it now: silver is coming. ✨
One of the best parts of being here is getting to see what’s next before it becomes everywhere, and then deciding which pieces deserve a place at Velvet Bridal.

Some wedding dresses whisper romance. Gardenia is completely, unapologetically in love with it.
From the first look, she feels like something out of a secret garden. Her strapless sweetheart bodice is covered in dimensional floral lace, with delicate blooms trailing past the waist and scattering across layers of soft, airy tulle. Against the subtle blush of the gown, every ivory floral detail gets its own little moment, and the effect is dreamy without feeling overly sweet.
Then there’s that skirt. Gardenia’s A-line silhouette brings the volume, but all those layers of tulle keep her feeling light, floaty, and made for movement. There’s enough structure through the bodice to give you that beautifully defined shape before the skirt opens into a full, romantic sweep. And from behind, the lace continues across the bodice and trickles down the skirt before disappearing into her chapel-length train.
Gardenia is for the bride who isn’t trying to tone down the bridal moment. She wants the flowers. She wants the tulle. She wants the gorgeous silhouette and the entrance, and the oh my gosh, you look like a bride reaction when she steps out of the dressing room. When your special-order gown arrives at Velvet Bridal, you’ll come back for a pickup appointment and get to step into your actual wedding dress for the first time. This is the perfect opportunity to bring someone who missed the original appointment and give them their own first-look moment.
Suddenly, they didn’t “miss” finding the dress. They get to be one of the very first people to see you in the gown you’ll actually wear down the aisle. Add a celebratory lunch afterward, and you’ve created an entirely new bridal memory together.
So if coordinating everyone’s schedules is delaying your appointment, give yourself permission to stop searching for the one magical date when every calendar aligns.
Not everyone has to be there for the decision to have a meaningful place in the experience.
