Things we never say · Things we never say

Of everything and nothing in particular, really. Your life goes on just as usual, but it feels like an important part of you is lost. Is that what growing up is? Not feeling like you have anything together, but simultaneously holding the weight of the world on your shoulders? Wasn’t there a time when such simple things brought such joy, and at times they still do? It just feels like it doesn’t happen as often.

The years go by; you keep on living a decent life, and you make some mistakes, yes, but you can maintain the peace eventually. You make sure that things don’t go so far that you can’t make it better ever again. And still, it feels like everything is just hanging by a thread. That you are one thing away from a breakdown. But you convince yourself that your life is good and everything is fine, and you don’t really have much of a reason to feel the way you do. And you keep on going and going and going. Shutting off the part of your brain that says you are not feeling as good as you used to.

You do it with anything and everything that you can get your hands on. You watch TV, doomscroll, party a little too hard, and of course, work way too hard. All your friends ask you why you keep on working late nights and on the weekends. But they don’t get it, do they? They are not feeling what you are feeling. They don’t know what a minute of rest makes you feel like. What it brings up. All those feelings that bring up shame; shame about everything:

Not showing up to a plan with your sister because you were sick.

Missing a deadline

Not being able to make your baby stop crying in five minutes.

Feeling unattractive.

Not fitting into your clothes.

Having more screen time than that entrepreneur who is a billionaire at 25.

There are a million ways that we feel shame in this world, and even more so if we like to be someone who can do it all. It’s not a bad thing. It is a very difficult thing. When you feel like you are responsible for hosting the dinner, or hitting your office’s quarterly goal, or making the itinerary for your friends’ trip, missing a goal feels like a personal attack.

In a way, all of this is related to your relationship with yourself. And I know that we keep hearing or reading that the most important relationship you can have in your life is with yourself. But we never think that it applies to us. We think that we have a good relationship with ourselves; it is not about us.

It is, though. It is about all of us. All our feelings of shame are associated with our sense of self-worth. Working on your self-worth is a tall order. A really big ask, actually. It is something that can be worked upon, though.

You have to be willing to do the work. You have to be open to making that change.

It doesn’t mean that you have to do it without any support or guidance. This is why I created Unpack with Mehak, and here’s how I can help.

If you are ready to ‘Rebuild your Self-Worth,’ I would suggest going ahead with the monthly container that is focused exactly on this.

Rebuild Your Self-Worth — $499/month (Monthly Container)
For when rejection, comparison, relationships, or other people’s behaviour have started to shape how you see yourself, and you want to change that.

Over the month, we’ll work on things like learning to handle rejection without letting it take over your day, responding to shame when it shows up, and breaking the patterns that make you abandon yourself to be chosen by someone else.

You get:

  • 4 × one-hour 1:1 sessions

  • Personalised ongoing support between sessions

  • A month of focused work on your patterns, rather than generic advice

Pattern Breakdown Session — $149
A one-hour 1:1 session to work through a specific pattern, relationship, decision, or situation together.

Email Deep Dive — $79
For when you want me to go deeper into a specific situation. I’ll analyse what’s happening beneath the surface and send you a detailed written analysis, with three follow-up exchanges to explore what comes up.

Loop Breaker — $39
Tell me about a specific pattern you’re stuck in, and I’ll analyse it using the Loop Breaker framework and send you a written analysis. One response, no follow-up.

Loop Mapper — $9
A self-guided framework to help you map the pattern you keep finding yourself in and understand what’s keeping the loop going.

Why me?

You might be wondering why I’m the person to do this work with you.

I have a background in psychology, and through my work here, I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching psychology, studying patterns in human behaviour, and writing about the things we experience but don’t always have the words to explain. Things We Never Say now reaches around 34,000 subscribers across 188 countries.

But the reason I do this work isn’t simply because I’ve studied psychology. I know what it feels like to be stuck in these patterns myself.

I’m not interested in telling you to “love yourself more,” “be more confident,” or “stop caring what other people think.” You probably already know you’re supposed to do those things. I want to understand why they’re difficult for you in the first place, and then help you work out what you can actually change. That’s the approach I bring to our work together.

If you are tired of living like this and you are ready to do the work, you can choose the kind of support that feels right for you by clicking on the hyperlinks.
