Engelsholm Castle and forest 🏰 🌲

Engelsholm Castle is located near Vejle, in Southern Jutland. We love this spot. It has this X-Men school vibe to me — young people hanging out on the grass, playing cards and chess, swimming in the lake, and music playing quietly in the background.

It’s privately owned and functions as a high school (højskole), so you can’t go inside unless you’re a guest or student. But the grounds are open and totally worth a visit. It’s got a calm, creative energy.

The forest nearby is beautiful for a stroll. Most paths are flat, easy to walk on, and suitable for families throughout all seasons. This time we chose the yellow-marked 5 km hike, which goes around the castle and then transitions into a forest.

ℹ️ Note: A lovely picnic house is located on the trail, but there is no WC.
