Today I was joined by a genuine Super-Producer. Brad Simpson has more Five-Star credits to his name than anyone should have in one lifetime. Among his honor role: Far from Heaven, Party Monster, Boys Dont Cry, Hedwig and the Angry Itch, Happiness, One Hour Photo, World War Z and the Diary of Wimpy Kid series. In partnership with the legendary Nina Jacobson at Color Force, he has produced even more classics for the big screen and small including Crazy Rich Asians, The People vs. OJ Simpson, the Assassination of Gianni Versace, Pose and Love Story.

Today, he finds himself at the wheel of The Shards, a TV adaptation of the quasi-kind of-autobiographical novel by Bret Easton Ellis, which gave us a chance to dwell at length on what is perhaps my favorite subject in the entire culture - Los Angeles in the early 1980’s, where the story is set. (Watch if you can see my soul leave my body when Simpson mentions the hallowed, never-to-be-forgotten, Hamburger Hamlet.)

It was a fascinating chat from one whose work has documented great true American stories from our times like no one else. Give a watch! And if you haven’t already, sign up for FREE below. You never know who will stop by!
