Sadhbh Adamea · The Love Café

Dear Soul Friends,

I hope you are well! These days were filled with lots of Love and wonder. On Friday I spontaneously channelled some poetry at a craft market within the Ballinrobe festival. A heartfelt welcome to all new subscribers here. It was such an honour and the precision of the words as well as the feelings that they evoked in the recipients were again mind-blowing. I was especially happy to be placed next to the incredible mural that wonderfully fitted the title of my book!

I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, we dove deep into the world of words together. What I love most is that in each workshop I get to know such amazing souls - I learn so much and am deeply moved by their words, their presence and their feedback. Somehow, in the space between the words, a deep connection takes place that weaves an invisible bond among us all.

Here is a quick capture of the workshop:

Today was a rainy day and my day off, so I took the time to wonder in wander around the forest of books in my favourite bookstore. As I had a birthday gift voucher to spend, this just seemed like a perfect way to rest and at the same time get inspired to new creations. As my book wishlist is quite long, I struggled a bit to decide, but then went with a book that I had my eyes on for a few months: “Thirty-Two Words for Field” by Manchán Magan - a book about the language tied to the natural landscape of Ireland. The author dives into the deeper meaning behind Irish words.

The subtitle “Lost words of the Irish landscape” started to inspire me immediately. I love the notion of "lost words". As if some words were swallowed by the earth, just like ivy seems to cover the plants or trees underneath. We can get lost in words while reading a book, forgetting the world around us. I wonder, if our life is (according to spiritual teachings) a movie, when we are lost in a book, are we actually entering reality? Maybe this space between the lines are where true life happens. When we read a book we can’t scroll our phones at the same time. Reading requires presence. This is why reading and writing actually grounds us far better than watching a movie. There are no quick cuts. Books don’t have soundtracks, other than the ones we hear in our heads while we are reading (I personally hear the author’s voice when I read). Books often have a much richer language than movies, that’s why the book is always better than the movie - it is more detailed and what we imagine in our heads seldomly matches the setting on screen.

I often think about our language nowadays. We write in abbreviations, create new words and sometimes it feels as if our vocabulary shrinks into a pile of "most used words". I think the words we use most show our current state of mind. "Language is the mirror of our attitude" an improv coach once stated - there's a deep truth in it.

What if we tried to use more positive, beautiful words that lift us up throughout our day? Which words are your favourite that you want to use more often? Which words make you feel spacious in your body?

While I captured my experience in the bookshop on my Instagram, the words arrived. I couldn’t get the word “tender” out of my head. A word that has many layers. It is neither positively nor negatively charged, but describes a space between. I think it is - next to Love - one of the most judgement free words of our vocabulary.

Tender
Tender
is my raw and vulnerable heart
cracked open to love
even more
Tender
fingertips fiddling
with the mystery of fate
Tender
a liminal space
not sore
nor yet completely well
Tender
a beginning
within an ending
Tender
a landscape
of trust within fear
ready
to surrender
I am
tender
I am
here

At the moment I am somewhat lost in words, this is why I am less here on Substack and share less of my words. I am working on a few projects at the same time (full Gemini mode) and while it at times feels as if I am wandering aimless in the dark, I fully trust that the spots where I rest my pen will connect into something that makes a lot of sense. Writing poetry and sharing our words is a very tender place. I feel deeply honoured by how much trust the participants of my workshop show to open up and share their words. Writing a book is an especially tender place. Maybe, in the process of creating, I become more of myself than through any other spiritual practice.

I invite you to pick one word that you want to use more often throughout the next week. Let’s gather some inspiring words that help us to focus on Love in her many forms! Let me know in the comments what you chose!

For those of you who live in the area, mark your calendar for the 8th of August. I will be hosting a Lion’s Gate session in Ballinrobe! I loved Bloom Wellbeing Studio so much, I just had to return! We will gather from 7 to 9 pm. If you want to be the first to secure your spot, simply write me a message/email. More information will follow in the next days. If you want to work 1:1 with me, head over to my website to book your Soul Spark Session. I have a few spots available in the coming weeks!

Thank you so much for your support! You have no idea how much your comments, likes and your views of my articles and posts encourage me to keep writing. Support is, how I learned at the weekend, not necessarily to do or give something for or to someone - sometimes it is simply to walk curiously (or as my friend Jamie would say “cuoreously”) side by side in the same direction.

Have a beautiful rest of the week!
