Dear Soul Friends,
As you can see from my title, life has been extraordinarily and magically crazy these days. I am at a point where I am starting to really love the contrast, where I embrace every second that my mind screams “no” because the no is part of a kNOwing that inevitably follows once I turn my focus on the yes. It feels as if I have arrived at the centre of the carousel, where a strange steadiness stabilises the process while the wheel of time keeps spinning. I remember I used to keep a picture of me as a child in which I looked utterly crazy because the camera (the one from which pictures needed to be developed in a dark room) had blurred my eyes. As a teenager I added the quote by Otto Waalkes (a German comedian) “And out of the chaos a voice emerged: Smile, it could be worse! And I smiled. And it got worse.” to it and hung it up on my wall.
“Why so serious?”
But how can you take things so lightly, Nicole, when everything is so serious. In the early 15the century, the word “serious” meant “arranged in sequence, continuous”. It is no longer used in nowadays language, but what if it hints to the reason why we feel so heavy when we take things “seriously”? The word “series” is incredibly close to the word “serious”, so there may be a thread that feels strangely familiar to our souls. Life doesn’t happen linear. I think life happens in “widening circles”, as the German poet Rilke so beautifully writes (“I live my life in widening circles”). What if, whenever we are seeing things too seriously, we just don’t remember to zoom out, to soar above what is happening in our small world to understand the bigger picture? What if we try to control the timeline instead of trusting that the constant change of our nature will inevitably change us for the better?
Faith is a field of soft grass, moss and wildflowers, where our soul roams free and our bodies relax into the energy of light. When we practice to silence our analytical mind and have practiced unshakeable trust in the guidance of the universe, we can alchemise sudden surprising changes into exciting plot twists, which helps us to stay in creator-mode. Here we can actively work with the shift, instead of holding on to the old with tension. When we don’t react but simply watch the feelings arising in our bodies, making space for them to move through, the plunge almost happens in slow motion - falling slowly.
A few days ago the wonderful and inspiring musician Glen Hansard died in a motorcycle accident. Glen started as a busker, and ended up singing with Bruce Springsteen. Even when his name got out there he continued to busk and led the annual Christmas Eve charity busk in Dublin. His voice was one of a kind and the passion for singing travelled through every tone. The title of this article is a tribute to his presence on earth.
When the movie “Once” was shown in cinemas I was mesmerised by the strong voice and passion for singing. At that time I was studying Music and loved to use Hansard’s songs for my exams. I deeply enjoyed the harmony that was enveloping me when the second voice magically braided itself into the strands of tunes. Life happened, and deeply hurt after a traumatic ending of a relationship, I avoided listening to his music, as the memories were too painful. When my Instagram feed was flooded with his song “Falling Slowly”, I was surprised and pleased to realise that the memories once attached to this song have fallen away. I started to listen through new ears. And all of a sudden, the lyrics hit deeper and revealed something way more profound.
“Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice
You've made it now”
(excerpt of “Falling Slowly”, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová)
We always have a choice. Whatever we choose to put our focus on becomes our destination. Sudden plot twists cause us to ask new questions and often bring sudden clarity. When life “cuts the ground from under our feet”, we might feel unrooted. But what if the hand of Love just decided that this field simply doesn’t provide right nourishment for you. What if you can trust the feeling of flying, because you are carried on the wings of faith. When we are anchored in faith, we can relax and enjoy the ride. This reminds me of a poem I carried close to my heart when I was a teenager, it was called “"Footprints In The Sand”. It is easy to wonder if there is such thing as divine guidance when we are inmidst the turmoil. Yet knowing that in exactly these moments divine intervention is at play, we can breathe deeply and let ourselves be taken to wonderland.
"My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

The energies of the Lion’s Gate invite us to a big, universal pause. This is a time of threshold, a time where we float in liminal space and rest for a moment. The Lion’s Gate portal is a powerful astrological event that provides a perfect time for manifesting. Lately, I have experienced a series of small instant manifestations and this has been so much fun! For me, the process of manifesting is far more interesting than seeing the manifestation with my human eyes. I am not an expert, but so far I’ve learned that manifesting and presence are deeply intertwined. Poetry helps us to pause into presence. Poetry invites us to make space and to acknowledge our internal growth. Poetry is like a trellis, a climbing support for the plants that are reaching for the sky. Poetry builds a bridge to spirit.
With poetry, a crumbling life suddenly tastes sweet as we dip our finger into the sticky icing, writing our story in sugar.

Sugarcoated
Life
is fragile
a story
of Love
imperceptibly
seeding
while we try
to succeed
Life
is a mystery
a miracle
waiting for us
to see
what we came here
to be
Life
is wrapped
in Love
our hearts
nestled
in the sweet
coat
of the divine
Love
outlives
life
in all its forms
lingering
in frosty
memories
a sweet delight
that carries others
through the night
way after
we have crossed
the finish line
Sadhbh AdameaThis poem is a tribute to Glen and all those who already have passed and moved on from this physical world. No matter how famous, creative or impactful we have been throughout our lives, once we leave this physical plane, Love and light remain.
