Lizzie’s Oath | Diane Wahn Shotton | Historical; Women’s Fiction (N) (ARC.3)
Lizzie’s Oath is a standalone historical women’s fiction novel and the second book in the Roots of Resilience series. Set in Cincinnati between 1871 and 1885, it follows Lizzie Hesch, a young woman raised in a Civil War orphan asylum who believes hard work, obedience, and sacrifice are enough to build a good life. As marriage, motherhood, widowhood, and unexpected love reshape her future, she discovers that following every rule cannot protect her from heartbreak. Inspired by the true lives of the author’s family, Lizzie’s Oath explores resilience, sisterhood, grief, and the quiet courage required to begin again. Readers who enjoy emotionally rich, character-driven historical fiction by authors such as Lisa Wingate, Kristin Hannah, and Diane Chamberlain may find much to love in Lizzie’s story.
The ARC will be available via BookFunnel as an ePub in early August. Please contact dianewahnshotton@gmail.com for more information. Thank you!

Last Performance at the Three Dragons Inn | Ben Spencer | Fantasy (NT) (C) (F)
Jezebel is the star of the The Flame, the controversial play at the Three Dragons Inn. The play depicts the death of King Reuel I and his family by dragon flame thirty years prior. When the reigning Queen of Ragar Or—the deceased king’s sister—decides to attend the play, Jezebel and the other actors worry that their lives may be in danger. But the mysterious proprietress of the Inn, Shayla Long Eyes, contends that all will be fine. Taking Jezebel aside, Shayla hatches a plan to make the Queen’s show an unforgettable one. Jezebel goes along with it, but as the show draws near, Jezebel begins to suspect that there is larger plot at play, one directed by the proprietress she has long failed to properly understand.
