Olivia Lilley · Dear Writer/Director

Royal Street where I will be today from

7am to midnight

Working

Getting my white linen dirty

With sweat

Stains from other people’s wine and food

I am stoked to see who I run into today

It’s madness

Holiday weekends especially when they are centered in the Quarter

I’ve had various texts from friends indicating that they are deep in the middle of some story that’s really happening in real time and all their own

Can’t wait to randomly call a few to get them out of the house even though I can’t meet up with them

They’re just going to have to enjoy it for themselves

The day begins with The Red Dress Run

Something I am not prepared for nor can go to because I have to sit at this desk for $20 an hour

But I can feel it coming like the running of the bulls

My co-worker I relieved is currently in search of breakfast with an acquaintance he’s apparently flaked on twice but not this time

Dirty Linen is my second favorite Saturday of the Summer

Last weekend, White Linen was unforgettable

The word ‘hi-jinx’ comes to mind when I think about the next 24 hours to come

I barely slept due to alcohol making me feel ill (Wine before Liquor you’ve never been sicker) and the pulsating, blasting AI rainstorm that I had somehow convinced myself made it easier for me to sleep

Today I’m sober, and I’ll be sober all this coming week

Mmm

I’m actually really glad my body can’t take that much anymore

It’s a relief

I’ll always know to stop

Perhaps one day I’ll stop and never start again

Dirty Linen is about two things

The Art in The Galleries on Royal Street and The Revelry

I can’t wait for all the fabulous outfits and equally fabulous drink and food orders

I can’t wait to watch the tips on the Squarespace app go up

I look forward to all the wise cracking and 20’s Dixie Bohemian era wearing we’re all about to do out on the floor

Thanks to my having one extra outfit, complete with scarf, for my boss who is the same size as me

I forgot my iPhone Tripod at home

Better run and grab that during my hour break

The French Quarter is everything I always want it to be tonight

And then some

Who’s gonna cross my path

How

When

Why

Where

That’s the real excitement underneath it all

Also ’s

Don’t you skip Ms. Rau tonight

It’s The Patula Smoke Break Favorite
