Usually, this is where I share 3 things that help you get digitally organized, but as you may have noticed I’ve taken a break from writing emails as we head into the new year.
It’s December 19th and I already feel behind in my prep for next year.
The decluttering I wanted to do in my house.
The reflecting on 2025 I wanted to do make time for.
The strategic planning I wanted to do for Q1.
The list goes on.
There are personal projects I never finished and life admin work still looming over me. I need to clean the car, get a haircut, prep for the Christmas party.
I still have client work I need to finish!
I leave town for a week and a half and by the time I get back 2026 will be in full swing and I’m already be behind!!
Deep breath…
Odds are I’m not alone. Maybe you feel something similar to this. The speed, the noise, the rush, the pressure, the guilt - of December.
December is supposed to be a month of joy and celebration. A time to slow down and spend time with family.
Maybe the problem lies in our approach. Maybe our perspective is off about what truly matters.
Typically my goals for December look like this:
🗃️ Complete all projects no matter what
🤔 Reflect on the past year
🧹 Deep clean the whole house
🎄 Read 3 books for Advent
📞 Book work for January
But this year it looks more like this:
🗓️ Set realistic project deadlines (even if it’s in January)
✍️ Schedule a day in January to reflect on 2025 with specific reflection questions
❌ Remove unnecessary tasks from my plate
🖥️ Clean and organize my desk
🍻 Spend quality time with family and friends
We can’t do it all. We have limits.
Let’s not let that fact send us spiraling into anxiety every year. What if we leaned into our limits during the business of the holidays and actually enjoyed them?
We’re still going to work hard and “finish strong”, but we don’t have to do it all, because we can’t - and that’s okay.
So here are my tips for finishing the year well without losing your mind.
Get clear on your priorities.
Remove things that don’t need to be on your plate right now.
Ask for help with what is on your plate.
Allocate your time effectively and accurately.
Enjoy the present moment.
Embrace interruptions.
Communicate your boundaries.
Serve others.
Eat good food.
Get 8 hours of sleep and take your vitamins.
That’s all for now! Have a great day. 👊🏼
