☎️ Domestic abusers don’t belong in Congress - phonebanks launch TONIGHT to help unseat Max Miller ☎️

TOO LONG, DIDN’T READ

If you have questions, comments, and especially submissions for actions, please email us at roganslisttips@gmail.com!

Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” has proven to be the MAGA murder budget we all predicted. The cuts to Medicaid and food assistance have been devastating, and while the wealthiest Americans benefit from lower taxes the burden is falling on working class families. We The Fighters is working to activate those folks in progressive organizing ahead of the midterms. Right now, they’re gearing up for a major door-knocking and phone-banking push in key districts, and they need our help.

☎️ We can join them for phonebanks to help recruit volunteers nationwide TONIGHT from 6-9PM ET, building field teams to unseat vulnerable Republicans like Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, Tom Barrett, Kevin Kiley, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Gabe Evans for selling us out for the oligarchs. Let’s sign up here. ☎️

FIGHTING OLIGARCHY WITH WE THE FIGHTERS

During Operation Metro Surge, Enterprise Rent-a-Car rented over one thousand vehicles to ICE, helping them to abduct and terrorize our neighbors. Activists on the ground estimated they provided more half of ICE’s wheels. They’re profiting off kidnapping, and they should not be allowed to go on like it’s business as usual.

A group of organizers led by 18 Million Rising, the Stop Avelo Coalition and Sunrise is coming together to renew our efforts to put pressure on Enterprise to put the brakes on their collaboration with the deportation machine. This SUNDAY at 1PM ET, they’re bringing folks together for a “reserve and complain social,” where they’ll be updating us on their Enterprise: Drop ICE campaign and having activists collectively take part in a reserve-and-complain action, making reservations with Enterprise using their “pay later” option and then filing our objections instead of showing up 🫱🏾‍🫲🏼 We can register for this virtual event here and find their action page for more ways to disrupt Enterprise’s business here. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏿

DROP ICE OR LOSE OUR BUSINESS

In 2001, the U.S. Forest Service adopted the Roadless Area Conservation Rule to protect national forests from roadbuilding and logging. Since then, there have been various debates and arguments and modifications and specific exclusions, but approximately 30% of national forest land (59 million acres) is roadless, safeguarding the habitats and species within it. But roads are needed for logging, so Trump and the GOP are trying to ditch the rule as another gift to corporate America.

This week, the Department of Agriculture formally introduced a rollback of the roadless rule in what the Center for Biological Diversity is calling the “largest evisceration of public lands protection in American history.” It’s now been published on the Federal Register. ✍🏽 We can submit public comments opposing this destruction here through September 21st. We can find language we can work from via EarthJustice here and here, and a rundown of arguments we can use here. ✍🏻

SAVE OUR PUBLIC LANDS

A brutal combination of historic heat, record-shattering drought, and decades of crumbling infrastructure has pushed Puerto Rico into a devastating water emergency. The main reservoir serving San Juan has effectively run dry. A state of emergency is in effect, and more than 180,000 households across seven municipalities are living under mandatory 48-hour water rationing. REBUILD.US is directing funds to experienced local partner organizations. Their partners plan to establish water distribution centers. For approximately $3,000, they can rent two water trucks to deliver potable water to residents. 💵 We can help by making a donation to provide immediate relief to Puerto Rico, set up water distribution centers, and ensure that every family has access to clean drinking water here. 💵

PUERTO RICO NEEDS SUPPORT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in K-12 public and private schools has impacts that are varied, unregulated, unknown, and growing. In addition to AI’s increasing use in public schools, unproven, for-profit “schools” built by billionaires with no background in education are muscling their way into communities, untested. The Just Horizons Alliance is a nonprofit research organization operating under a board of directors that includes several professors from Boston University. A project of the Alliance is the AI Ethics Index. One of the things the AI Ethics Index is developing is an evaluation framework for the use of AI in K-12 education. The AI Ethics Index is seeking educators, school leaders, researchers, and partners to join a founding cohort for the League of AI-Fluent Schools. 🏫 If we are teachers, instructional coaches, principals, school leaders, district and system leaders, or members of education organizations, researchers, or partners, let’s learn more here, and let’s consider helping to further this research by joining the League of AI-Fluent Schools as founding cohorts. 🏫
