That’s not us saying it, that’s what the Bitcoin community is starting to say about Surge.

Big thanks to Steve Lee (Head of Spiral, co-founder of Presidio Bitcoin), who tried Surge and tweeted about it this week. The response that followed was honestly the best signal we could’ve hoped for. A bunch of folks gave it a spin, started sharing their take, and most of the feedback landed on one thing: the UX.

Tried this yesterday. Super slick UX. Really nice to see non-custodial solutions delivering great UX. Curious to hear why more people aren't giving this a whirl.

The reason most Bitcoiners use custodial lenders isn't ideology. It's UX. Non-custodial has been clunky, slow, and more expensive — until it wasn't. Full walkthrough of what changed. Link in replies.

Non-custodial UX has always been clunky. Even a basic self-custody wallet is tricky to get right and once you layer in something like lending, it gets exponentially harder. From day one, this is where we’ve invested the most. If we couldn’t ship a great experience, there was no point being in the market. These early reactions are the first signs we’re landing in the right place. Kudos to the team for grinding on the details that don’t show up in a pitch deck but show up the moment someone clicks “Borrow.”

Thanks for all the support. If you haven’t seen it yet, the full product walkthrough is below and if you find it interesting, sharing it with one or two friends goes a long way. Link below.

We received our first audit report covering the core tech stack, primarily the Bitcoin script side and the DCN. Rearden Code has been a great partner here, and we’re working through the remediations now.

A quick insider note: the results are looking promising. We’re targeting the next two weeks to wrap remediations and publish the audit results publicly. This is a milestone we’re genuinely excited about, closing this opens the door for a lot of what comes next.

Right after, we move into the EVM-side audit. Initial scoping conversations have already happened, and the full engagement kicks off as soon as the Bitcoin audit closes.

Audits, audits, audits. Once these are behind us, we’re gearing up to bring some bigger partnerships and traction online. The heavy lifting should be wrapped by sometime in June.

We’re seeing consistent organic traction, almost entirely word of mouth. We’ve intentionally held off on pushing the marketing pedal that stays parked until July, while we get the audits and DCN milestones across the line. Expect some high-signal updates in the coming weeks.

Here’s the snapshot of where things stand today.
