I guess this week’s theme is one-word films: Paradigm, Mandala, Cipher. Zero complaints here, all three of the top videos here are absolute bangers with completely different styles!
The lineup of riders in this video is out of control: Emil Johansson, Szymon Godziek, Thomas Genon, Kade Edwards, and plenty more. Honestly, if this was 15-20 minutes longer, this could be a full length MTB film. Wild!
Whew! I’m here for this. Jaxson Riddle has such a trademark riding style, big air with some serious flow. I feel like I needed this one - sort of a throwback shreddit that just gets you stoked. More of this!
Here’s the full film - respect to Kilian Bron for putting this all together, the cinematography is absolutely incredible, and I can only imagine the logistics behind such a massive undertaking. The audio is in French, but thankfully YouTube has an auto-translate option. So cool to see someone take a completely different approach to a mountain bike film - check it out!
When most car companies make bikes, they do an absolutely horrific job - and I can’t come up with a single example of one that even got close. But this might be a first…this looks like it took some serious effort, even if it isn’t a mountain bike.
🔥 Another World Cup is in the books - only one more left this season! It was only a matter of time before the Sleeper crew edited a video to Motley Crüe, and here we are.
👀 Wild to think it’s been a year since Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina. Check out this $17,000 custom built bike being raffled off to support the recovery efforts. Seth from Berm Peak did the custom build, which you can watch here.
🤘 Red Bull Rampage is upon us! The barrage of athlete vlogs from the build and preparation should be landing any time now. The official event is October 16-18, definitely stay tuned! Here’s the event page if you need any additional information.
👉 25 years (18 events) later, Kyle Strait not riding Red Bull Rampage for the first time in the event’s history. In this interview with ReconMTB, he talked about giving the spot to someone else who was more excited about this year’s venue (the same one from 2021).
🏆 Eric Porter took his sons to the Champery World Championship track to tackle it. Serious dad goals here - image having your kids ripping down the gnarliest racetrack of the season!
😳 This was gnarly - Tomomi Nishikubo visited Copenhagen and took on the challenge that has plagued the mind of every bike rider since the beginning of time. Who hasn’t seen those giant metal poles sticking out of the water and imagined themselves riding over them. I wouldn’t try this - but I’m glad he did!
It’s hard to believe it, but people stopped practicing one of the most fundamental skills in MTB because a version of the skill “looked weird”. In this video, we’re going to bring it back to life, because it’s not weird - it’s useful.
I co-host a podcast called Second Nature, and it’s about the bike (and outdoor) industry. This week, we had the founders of the world’s largest bike club on the podcast. Their monthly ride is so massive that they have a police escort! Definitely fascinating to hear everything that goes into making this happen.
I hope you’re as excited for Red Bull Rampage and the final World Cup of the season - we’ve got so much more riding to look forward to before things wrap up for the year. Stay tuned!
