What an incredible season of riding and racing it’s been so far! With two more UCI World Cup left, plus one more massive event - Red Bull Rampage - October is going to be a huge month.
If you want to use the rest of your season to learn a fun skill, here’s my most recent Wheelie tutorial. I think this breaks it down in the most comprehensive way possible, so if you’ve been stuck on wheelies, this could be the solution:
This looks incredible. Kilian Bron is known for tons of epic POV shots of ripping mountain tops, and I can’t think of a better place to get the job done than Nepal. The cinematography on this one looks insane, too. Definitely excited to see the full film!
You don’t have to be a Trials rider to enjoy this: all you need to know is that Charlie Rolls is the top-ranked UCI trials rider and European Champion, has the best style on two wheels, and is next in line to be a dominant force in the sport for years to come. If you follow any trials riders (besides me), make sure it’s Charlie. He’s incredible. Big fan of him, both on and off the bike.
This event is always one I look forward to every year. The effort that Swatch puts into creating the course and building out the event is always top notch, and the progressive riding that follows is a result of all that intention and energy. So good!
You don’t see this one too often, especially in the middle of qualifying first in a World Cup. But if you can’t have fun, what’s the point? Asa Vermette going upside down:
🏆 This past weekend was the final European stop of the UCI World Cup in Lenzerheide - it’s back to the USA and Canada for the last two rounds. Here are all the recap clips in one place if you want to watch the action!

🎥 If you missed last week’s video with Chris Akrigg riding the most difficult stuff on two wheels, here’s your nudge to check it out.
😳 Check out those custom Chris King World Champion hubs on Jackson Goldstone’s bike. Black Magic painted these after his win, they look so rad!
🙌 Before YouTube existed, we had Drop In - the original mountain bike TV show. Dylan Tremblay was on the show, and has returned to YouTube recently. Check out the Drop In Reunion in Whistler with the OG Legends!
🤘 This edit from Dave McMillen is perfectly named: Build and Destroy. So much schralping going on in one video, textbook execution!
There’s an extra boost of power in your pedals, and there’s a solid chance that you’re not tapping into it on a regular basis. Once you learn this skill, you can create massive momentum in a split second. This will save you in slow speed sections of trail, or areas where you need to quickly climb up and over a small obstacle.
Would you believe this is the cassette I’ve been riding since January? This bike has survived hundreds, if not thousands of miles of trail riding in every imaginable condition - and I have NEVER used a scrub brush on it. The degreaser from Formula 100 works like actual magic - spray it on, walk away, come back and your drivetrain looks like this. I honestly can’t believe that my bike looks like this after all the abuse it’s taken. Seriously, take a look at Formula 100, this stuff is legit.
I’m partnered with Formula 100 because they make the best bike cleaner, degreaser and lubes, no question. My bike looks brand new after a year’s worth of abuse, and it’s because this stuff REALLY works.
We are officially into the triple digits of this newsletter, thanks so much for reading this week. I hope the weather is holding out, wherever you are, and that you’re getting plenty of rides in!
If you can read this, you don’t need glasses.
