When I started Style Pack Go a little over a year ago, I never imagined I’d spend one of the busiest travel seasons of the year almost entirely at home.
Normally, this would be the time of year I’d be researching flights, mapping out itineraries, and thinking about what to pack. I’d be looking ahead to Europe, saving restaurants on Google Maps, and debating whether a linen shirt deserves a place in my suitcase.
Instead, I’m at home with a newborn.
Our daughter is still too young to travel, and even if she weren’t, this season of life is asking something very different of me. It isn’t asking me to move. It’s asking me to stay still. If I’m honest, I’ve found that surprisingly difficult.
I’m someone who likes momentum. I like feeling like things are moving forward. I like having something to plan, somewhere to go, a trip on the horizon. Travel has always given me that. Even before I leave, there’s the anticipation of it. Reading about a destination. Building a capsule wardrobe. Wondering what the mornings will feel like there.
What you’ll find in this post: On staying still, dreaming ahead, and discovering that travel begins long before you board the plane.
