First, A Nightmare

Art is rebellion, and in 2026, rebellion is in vogue. We need to steal back our time, to use our hands, minds, and creativity to fill our souls. Ultimately, we need to push back against AI slop and algorithms that want to hijack our emotions.

A couple of weeks back, my wife and I braved the cold and snow on a Sunday night to catch a rare, 35mm screening of the 1944 classic, The Curse of the Cat People. The film is the sequel to the classic horror film Cat People, and it’s the directorial debut of one of my favorite directors, Robert Wise.

Finding your resolve to create in a time of crisis. It may not feel like it, but now is your moment. When we look around at the horrors of the world, it probably feels pointless to sit at our desks and write or take that evening to reflect and create something, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
