In 2023, in a single moment in my prayer closet, the Lord told me He was not in my seven figure business.
Not adjust it. Not tweak the offer. He said He was not in it. I had built the whole thing in my own strength, and He had had my yes from the moment He first asked for it. So I said okay. And I shut it down.
I want to be careful here, because it is easy to tell this story like I agonized for months. I did not. He had my yes already. The hard part was not the deciding. The hard part was the three years of wilderness that came after the deciding, when the thing I had built was gone and the new thing had not arrived yet and I had to learn who I was when I was not producing.
I kept the podcast. That was the one thing that stayed lit through the whole dark stretch. Everything else came down.
Here is what I did not understand until I was on the other side of it. The business was not the idol. The idol was underneath the business. I had made the business my source. My provision, my identity, my sense that I was okay, all of it was routed through the thing I had built instead of through Him. And you cannot see an idol like that from inside a launch. It only shows up in the quiet, when the thing gets taken away and you find out what is holding you up.
You do not have to shut your business down. That was my assignment, not a formula. But I would ask you the question the quiet asked me. If it went away tomorrow, cleanly, all of it, who would you be? If the honest answer scares you, the business is not your problem. The business is just where the real thing is hiding.
The rebuild is still in progress. I am not going to stand here and tell you I have arrived, because I have not. But I can tell you that the business I am building now sits downstream of the surrender instead of upstream of it, and that is the only reason it is worth building at all.
Hit reply and tell me what you would be afraid to lose. Not the polished version. The real one. I read every reply, and I will pray over yours this week.
With you,
Rachel

P.S. I take on only a small handful of women a year inside Called to Build Private, and this is the exact work we do first, before we touch a single funnel. Because the business is downstream of the leader. If that is the season you are in, you can apply at calledtobuildinternational.com/application.
