👋 Hello and welcome to our intermittently appearing newsletter with news, events, updates and other information about our race timing app. #happytiming
Although we made it quite simple for race managers to share race results - using either a QR code or a shortened link - we got feedback from many race participants who search for our website expecting to find their race results. We listened, and as of a few weeks ago we now publish a page that lists recent race results that have been marked as ‘publicly visible’ by the race organizer and that have a minimum of 20 participants.
Race Directors can manage results visibility from the first tab in our dashboard. Visibility can be set per race, and there is also a global preference for future races (public or private). Results can also be searched historically. Please note: only races marked as “publicly visible” will appear. The default setting used to be private until January ’26.
As our roots are in rowing, it was great fun to join Ken Creighton on the Complete Rowing podcast to discuss how RaceClocker came into being and how it’s now used at many rowing clubs.
Hear about Ken’s experience with rowing head race timing and learn about some of RaceClocker’s history, experience, catastrophes and future plans. It’s all covered in a 45 minutes episode on either SoundCloud or Spotify.
We’ve recently expanded on the experience for organizers of HYROX, Gymrace and DEKA simulations. We fixed several bugs that surfaced during live events and we also worked to make timing easier and more versatile on various devices. In addition we we included a ‘live finishers display’ of the most recent finishing participants. The new screen can be found in the ‘View’ menu on the results page.
By focusing timekeeping on the transition zone between the running lap and the Rox zone, you only need two timekeepers: one for incoming athletes and one for outgoing athletes (or four when using two-step timing). This keeps the organization lightweight while still providing detailed lap times, workout splits and performance stats.
More and actual details around how to use RaceClocker for your fitness competition timing can be found over here.
If you’re a Premium RaceClocker user, then make sure to try out our free Finish Cam app for iPhone. It provides a livestream video of start and/or finish of your race, where the playback, including a visible synchronized clock is fully integrated in the RaceClocker dashboard. It’s an excellent and reliable back-up solution for your manual timing.
We keep your Finish Cam livestream videos on our storage for a period of 2 weeks. You’ll be notified to download an .mp4 copy for your local archive before we remove videos from our server.
