Emma’s presentation today was not only inspiring, but it quickly led to a discussion about the power of role models. It’s encouraging to see how suffragette Elizabeth Cady Stanton inspired both her daughter, Harriot Stanton Blatch, and granddaughter, and our focus today, Nora Stanton Blatch Barney (1883-1971).
Reaching out about the tree a bit more, Emma introduces us to a cousin of Nora’s, explorer and pioneering travel writer, Freya Stark (1893-1993). Freya’s travels and irrepressible personality come through in her writing and influence right up until her death at 100.
