A new month brings a new theme, and November is dedicated to flow.
In Pilates, reaching a “flow state”—a focused mental zone where time shifts and movements feel instinctive—does more than enhance physical performance. Research from Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the founder of flow theory, shows that flow activates the prefrontal cortex, strengthening neural pathways that make complex movements feel more natural over time. In other words, achieving a flow state creates a mental clarity that improves focus and control, helping you perform challenging movements with greater ease. This benefit extends beyond class, making everyday actions smoother and more efficient by building muscle memory and refining your body’s responses.
Thanks to October's slower-paced, thematic exploration, you’re primed to step into this state. With mindful precision already established, November’s classes will use breathwork, fluid choreography, and seamless transitions to help you find an effortless rhythm where each movement feels both powerful and natural.
This month is all about trusting in the work you’ve already done this year and letting your body move, baby, move.

The word flow makes me think of so many things. The flow of breath, thoughts, water, blood, energy, and of course, movement. Can we flow through our Pilates exercises today with ease and strength? If we find a steady rhythm of our breath and heart, I think we can. More interestingly, how does the rest of your day flow after participating in a Pilates flow? 🤔
