Trump's America First Strategy

The Strategic Premise:

America has been in a multi-front war — economic, demographic, cultural, institutional, and geopolitical. Trump’s strategy treats these as interconnected theaters requiring simultaneous action, with careful sequencing where resources are limited.

THEATER ONE: Secure the Homeland

Strategic Purpose: Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves. Under Maduro, it’s a hostile state aligned with China and Cuba in America’s backyard. Flipping it secures energy supply, removes a hostile actor, and demonstrates hemispheric primacy.

Panama Canal

• Pressure on Panamanian government regarding Chinese-linked port operators

• Renegotiation or reassertion of strategic rights

• Framing: America built it, American security requires it

Strategic Purpose: The canal is critical infrastructure for American commerce and naval mobility. Chinese influence there is intolerable from a strategic standpoint.

Mexico and Cartels

Everything prior is preparation for this:

• Energy dominance ensures America isn’t dependent on hostile supply chains

• Hemisphere secured eliminates Chinese footholds nearby

• Middle East stabilized and aligned denies China easy energy access

• Domestic institutions purged of hostile actors

• Alliances restructured so allies contribute meaningfully

Then, from strength:

• Technology denial (chips, AI, advanced manufacturing)

• Financial leverage (dollar access, SWIFT alternatives countered)

• Military positioning (Taiwan, South China Sea, Pacific alliances)

• Potential deal-making from position of strength rather than managed decline

Russia (The Potential Flip)

• Russia is the junior partner in the China-Russia axis

• Russia has reasons to fear Chinese dominance (demographics, border, economic vassalage)
