The ultimate sebaceous filaments product combo

Last year I wrote one of my most viral articles on how to make those little black dots at the end of your nose look better - overnight.

In fact, I think I put the words “no, I’m not bullshitting you” in the notes because I wanted to let people know how serious I was.

That tip is still the most effective and lazy hack that I have for sebaceous filaments - which, in case you didn’t know, is the technical term for those little dots on the end of your nose that look like blackheads but aren’t.

However, I may have just discovered an amazing product combo that is slightly less lazy - for anyone willing to put in a lil effort to make them look slightly better.

I say slightly better because, in case you didn’t know, sebaceous filaments are part of our anatomy. Even if you manage to fully get rid of them, they are just going to come right back.

They’re essentially little tunnels/pores in our nose that constantly refill with sebum to keep the skin lubricated. Whilst you can make them look better, you can never truly make them go away - unlike blackheads, which can be removed permanently.

The first product is one that I’ve hated on for a long time, which is Paula’s Choice 2% BHA toner.

This toner irritates me because, whilst I understand it is many people’s holy grail, I find the texture incredibly unpleasant and oily. It is also an obscene price for a relatively simple product.

However, it is the perfect toner to use on sebaceous filaments because BHA is great at dissolving oil, and sebaceous filaments are basically just oil.

You could swap this toner for a cheaper alternative, like, for example, the Superdrug dupe - £9 instead of £36 (!!). I’m just using this one up because I have it.

The second product are the SungBoon Editor Blackhead Melting clear pads. I picked these up in Korea last October, and I’m gutted I haven’t tried them sooner.

My only qualm with them is that they contain menthol, which is an ingredient I’m usually against. But they work so well (and they’re only on my nose for 20 minutes) that I’ll let it slide.

I have also tried the Ilso sebum softener, which was a recommendation from my friend James Welsh, but I find the SungBoon editor pads more effective for me personally.

I’d always recommend doing this in the evening because your nose will probably look a little redder afterwards.
