My plan for this newsletter was to announce a book launch for A Valley Girl Dilemma. I made arrangements with a host. I shopped for 80s nostalgia trinkets for the gift bags. I ordered paperback copies. With plenty of lead time in case anything went wrong with the shipment.
Something went wrong with the shipment. Package shows as arriving at an Amazon facility in Whitby, ON, at 9:50 p.m. on Friday the 13th (like anything good would come of that). It left Whitby, ON, at 1:01 a.m. on Saturday the 14th. Original delivery date was March 18. It didn’t show up. Update was delivery March 24. It didn’t show up. Now the update is an ominous “Delivery date is currently unavailable.” They’re sorry. They’ll notify me of any updates. Or, if I prefer, I can cancel for a refund.
You can imagine the angst this is causing a Planner. Dare I cancel that order, then re-order and risk not having copies in time? Do I place a second order and possibly end up with a lot of books? What this means for you: I still hope to launch my new book at d’Lish by Tish Café in Saskatoon on Monday evening, April 27. I will definitely be at PopCon May 2-3 in Saskatoon with a book table. I hope I’ll have both my novels for sale along with a few of the anthologies that include my stories. Stay tuned. (Also, send good wishes for my blood pressure.)
On the subject of PopCon YXE, if you’ve never attended a con, you will be amazed. Truly. This “unique cultural gateway to worlds beyond where fans revel in pop culture and geeky splendor” is an experience of inclusivity and nerd celebration. Plus, cool costumes. Hope to see you there.
