Kindness Sounds Different

Michael Corthell · The Vegan's Voice

Words matter because they can expose the excuses we have learned to accept. Replace “veganism” with “kindness to animals,” and suddenly familiar objections sound very different. “Don’t force kindness on me.” “I could never be kind to animals because I love cheese.” “I’m just not ready to be kind yet.” None of that sounds quite as reasonable when we say plainly what is at stake.

Veganism is not about perfection, purity, or joining a club. It is about reducing unnecessary harm and recognizing that animals are individuals who value their lives. We already believe kindness matters. The challenge is applying that belief consistently, even when doing so asks us to change habits we have rarely questioned today.

Want to put compassion into practice? Download The 7-Day Compassion Challenge, a practical 17-page workbook from The Vegan’s Voice designed to help you make kinder, more consistent choices for animals. It’s free, or pay what you want. Get your copy here.

I know some may not want to commit to a paid subscription, but if you’d like to support my work, you can always buy me a coffee on Ko-fi. Your contribution helps sustain independent writing rooted in consciousness, compassion, and social renewal. Every bit of support truly makes a difference. Thank you!
