As some of you might know, an essay I wrote about sleep was published in the New York Times on Sunday. I am so thrilled by this honor, and genuinely delighted with how the piece turned out! My writing has been published by other media, but this one felt quite special.
I worked with an incredible NYT editor back and forth, between some scattered vacation time and consistently long days as a clinician, through hours of revisions additions and subtractions, hours of fact-checking exercises, and finally dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. I have a new, massive appreciation for how hard these professionals work, how thoroughly they require references and fact checks, and how talented they are as editors and writers themselves.
So, I want to sincerely thank The New York Times for this opportunity, and I trust that this essay is thought-provoking at least, and life-improving at best. See if you can shoehorn in a read yourself. The feedback I have received so far has been so fun. Here is a gift link for the article in case you are not an NYT subscriber. The encouragement and inspiration I receive from all of you who read this primary care newsletter keep me going. Thank you, too!
Ok, that’s it.
My next post will be sent out to you in exactly 25 minutes.
But before I do that,
I would just like to say one more thing…
Hey, I was just published in the New York Times!

P.S. Just for fun, if you would “❤️” and/or “Restack” my Substack note here, maybe we could hack the algorithm together and make this go a wee bit viral? You know, to keep up with the depressing and outrageous stuff for a moment?
