Today was nearly day two of failure!* Yesterday, I didn’t make it through my meditation before I fell asleep, I nearly write today off as too busy, as well. I actually have my boyfriend to thank for getting today’s practice done!
Day 12, too, after saying that day 12 is when people normally quit new routines.
Today is Beltane and 1 May. My monthly magazine was due out today and I was… right on the deadline. It needed some finishing touches, a re-read and I wanted to get a Yoga Nidra recorded to go with it (you can listen to that here!).
My partner came over with bbq supplies, I was on the verge of finishing the last edit - I just wanted to get out in the garden. Ben knows about my 100 days of Yoga and promised to do a practice with me so that I didn’t fall behind.
I chose a newly uploaded practice that was a live one from 1 May last year and it was so perfect for today! Because it was live, Esther asked us to feel the energy of everyone doing the practice, so it was nice to have Ben next to me. We flowed through some arm and breath movements, then some twists and lunges. We had a few giggles as our arms and hands bumped into each other. It was so fun! I’m so glad I got the chance to share this practice with him.
It’s also Beltane, the mid-way point between spring and summer. April flew by in a whirlwind of pink cherry blossom and walks in bluebell woods, chasing light and shade. The trees and hedgerows became fuller and greener, and the air now has that familiar buzz and chirps of insects and birds. It was a month of building movement and energy. I noticed that classes were fuller with people coming back to their practice, which has been such a joy.
So, thank you to April for blowing out the cobwebs, for bringing some energy back into tired bones, for reminding us what it feels like to step outside again and begin.
Now, I’m ready to welcome May.
*Hi I’m Lucy and I’m currently completing 100 days of Yoga - not a challenge, but a re-discovering and re-igniting my practice. I’ve decided to practice with Esther Ekhart on the YogaEasy platform. Choosing the practices that feel meaningful to me on the day, and sharing my thoughts and what I’m learning along the way. Find out more here.
