A quick technical update:
The feed is now back on iTunes, newly on Spotify and on most other platforms. If you don’t know what to listen to first, there’s also our randomized livestream playing sounds all day every day through the LLtNS website.

Highlights from the Feed:
Contributors have been adding a diverse selection of new sounds to the feed, here are three highlights:
+The Juicy Part by Jess Shane is a short collage of audio from personal, confessional style youtube stories. Dramatic scoring and rollercoaster screams build a tension on top of a piece that intentionally omits the juicy part from the story.
In her contribution she writes about the commodification of trauma, storytelling as healing and narrative structure. Falling Tree Productions included the piece on their 12 Docs of Christmas list.
You can followup The Juicy Part with In a haNdBAsket by BT which layers stories about near-death experiences and trips to hell. These stories of shame and fear overwhelm and build into a cartoonish crescendo.
+ Screaming at the Ocean by Jessica Jones is exactly what the title suggests. You may experience a great sense of relief upon listening.
+Down in the Heart of Texas by Jesse Damazo is a short dive into audio artifacts. Like tuning through memories and impressions from the past this is a compelling three-act investigation of the forgotten audio files left abandoned on a desktop.
Beyond the Feed
U+1f60c by James T. Green (Podcast, Dec 2019-present)
Since he opened the feed in December there are almost 40 Episodes live. Each one a sketch from Green’s life, his angst, his shifting interests.
James says ”U+1f60C is a zine in audio form, working through ideas publicly with friends and collaborators. I wanted to recreate the feeling of a studio visit, flipping through collages and sketches, but through a podcast feed.”

Heaps of Unreal Images by Max Stottrop (Podcast, Season 1, 2020)
This is like hearing a story through cuttings and disordered tape. The first few episodes move from shuttle prep to launch and the evacuation of London as we make our way into outerspace (and beyond?) It’s like listening to what might be happening on a parallel timeline.
Max says “An experiment in sound and fragmentation, inspired by stories about stars and the stars.“

Secret Harmony by Olivia Ravioli (Mini Audio Series, 2019-present)
Weekly series within a series from Olivia’s program Radio Ravioli on WFMU. Secret Harmony are brief interludes that mix and distort elements from music and radio. It’s dark, vulnerable and each one feels a bit like trying to remember something that once felt significant.
Olivia says: “The Secret Harmony is the amuse-bouche of my full 3 hour show, Radio Ravioli. Each episode is a ritual, in a way. I find it difficult to carve out time for creative projects, so I needed to create a space to allow that for myself. I think maybe someday they'll all coalesce into a giant story, but for now it's just about being vulnerable and curious.”
