What’s New to the Feed
Since our last letter in September 2018, the feed has swelled to 55 episodes and counting. In May, we were proud to have many early pieces from the podcast aired during a two-hour Long Live the New Sound segment on Radiophrenia. Thank you to everyone who agreed to lend their work.
We've also updated our website to include: A randomized stream of the feed where you can hear contributions in no particular order and with no particular bias, AND a page listing all episodes for easy browsing and listening.
On the subject of listening, you may have noticed that we are no longer listed on iTunes. This is a temporary setback that we're working day and night to rectify. But don't be discouraged, there are still many was to listen to the feed, including on Stitcher, PodAddict, PocketCasts, RadioPublic, and most (but not all) other places you may get your podcasts. You can also now listen via the LLtNS website at www.longlivethenewsound.com.
We launched LLtNS in the summer of 2018. The idea was to be a kind of public-access, freeform, anti-podcast podcast. A space for nonsense. A space to just fuck around. I listen to everything that comes into the feed (usually more than once) and even when it's unpolished, a little obscene, or completely terrible, I love every second...even when I hate it. So thanks everyone for sending sounds and for helping to grow this odd little garden.

New sounds abound and the feed has been populated with things like politics, memory, and general nonsense. Here are four of our picks that don't quite fit into any of those categories:

Quite a few responses to politics and media have come through the feed, including super short episodes like abroken fountain metaphorand Trump's pee tape(warning: explicit!). Here are two pieces that use soundbites and music to grapple with the news:

We read somewhere recently that '..in order for sounds to exist they must commit suicide...and you're left only with the memory of what youheard' We’re getting the quote very wrong and have failed to find its origin, but the sentiment still stands. There are quite a few episodes about memory in the feed. Here are two highlights:

Sleeptalker
Bec Fary on RRR (radio program)
What: A weekly radio series about sleep and dreams that regularly highlights unique sound works both related (and only semi-related) to the weirdness of sleeping. Listen from the RRR website archives and if you're looking for a specific episode recommendation go ahead and start with this episode from February 2019.

The Parallel Broadcast
Porest, released 2019 but spanning works between 1988 and 2017
What: Humor, sketches, stories, pop music and broadcasts that "explores the trauma of emerging global consciousness, acute cultural antipology, and the urgent placement of democratic music today." Playful, absurd and fun to listen to.

textsound
Many contributors from 2008 - ... (Online Audio Zine)
What: A bi-annual online audio journal that features soundworks from all over the world. If the number of issues is overwhelming, consider starting with issue 13 from July 2012. The whole journal is a gem and worth the time to explore.
Goes Well With: Well.. the variety of textsound means it goes well with the entire LLtNS feed. Enjoy them both.
