As I mentioned in the beginning of the summer I decided to have a no-pressure approach to both art and writing this season - a decision I am making for the third summer in a row. This decision has given me permission to play, new creative energy and inspiration to explore new directions. I work a lot in my sketchbooks, finding new ways of making art and already planning some larger work.
All this without the pressure of creating “finished” artwork or keeping up with any schedules or deadlines! Lovely.
This month for my usual inspiration list I decided to share some of the artists that I recently came across and absolutely loved their work:
Sam Milan Hewitt - His work is such an amazing mixture of illustration, writing and film-making, a true multi-media artist.
Pouké Halpern - I am making a lot of still life compositions at the moment and I just fell in love with the perfect simplicity of her work.
Allison James - I love the colours and mixture of layers and textures in her abstract works, makes me want to play more with materials and compositions.
Liza Smirnova - Wow, just look at these textile works! Simply amazing.
William J. O’Brien - Installations are something that I would love to be able to do myself at some point, and William’s work inspires me to follow this dream.
I love how diverse and unique the creative practice of these artists is, it’s giving me so many ideas and so much inspiration to be bolder in my own explorations.
I hope you found something to inspire you on this list too. Have a great and creative August!
