it’s so easy to love you, blank space
you never scold me for the cacophony of my regrets
you never crowd my personal space with opinions
that I can never hold the way I hold you
you don’t need anything from me
to fill you with a sense of belonging
you never ask me to stay home when the weather bothers me
you’re never the same every time we make love
it’s ok if I have to go looking for you sometimes
when I wake up in bawling sunshine, dry bones
jumbled in the avalanche of another set of oncoming
headlights jagging the smallest hours
you don’t owe me anything
on the other side of the street a knot lets go
