Classifying peoples and civilizations according to their technological level is decidedly a “modern” method, avoiding any philosophical or theological questioning that might challenge the tabula rasa of the Enlightenment. Thus, any new empirical measurement of a civilization reduces a process of millennia-old complexity to a “managerial project[1].”

According to the Kardashev Scale[2], advanced Type I civilizations consume everything their environment[3] can provide. One might therefore think that the concept of optimization would be an essential requirement for an efficient civilization. However, in reality, Western civilization has reached an empirical limit in terms of efficiency that is impossible to surpass. Thus, modern economic and industrial processes generate a monstrous amount of waste that is never included in estimated and measured costs, as the vast majority of these costs are externalized—that is, transferred to less powerful actors.

Humanity is said to have reached an unprecedented technological level; yet we also observe a collapse in its morals, beliefs, and integrity—in short, a decline in its very humanity. Thus, if we measure the world by how humans treat one another, we can certainly conclude, using the Kardashev Scale, that humanity has not only failed to occupy its entire habitat, but is also reaching an unprecedented level of destruction. Nothing must be left fallow; everything must be transformed, matter as well as life; nothing must retain its “original purity.” The example of DNA modified by patented substances called “vaccines” demonstrates the extent to which humanity has succeeded in destroying everything God created.

According to Nikolai Kardashev, Type II civilizations are capable of colonizing space and consuming the energy found there. The leaders of our world would like, in reality or in fiction, to conquer interstellar space and harness space energy to increase their control over the universe; but they would also like to use this stellar power to more decisively enslave those who consume the terrestrial energy necessary for space exploration. Drastically reducing the world’s population in order to recover the energy consumed by humanity to colonize other planets with parasitic “elites”—now that’s a pharaonic project worthy of the 21^st century!

It is therefore understandable that those in power view human life as a mere variable to be manipulated at will, without any ethical constraints. Humanity is thus emptied of its essence, since it destroys all historical possibility. Eliminating life to make way for a Higher Consciousness consuming monstrous amounts of energy (the gigantic Data Centers are not used to store information on individuals but are rather designed to allow Post-Human Civilization to reach the Threshold of Civilization Type II) is not, as the gurus of technology claim, a qualitative leap of the human spirit, but rather a fantasy revisited in every era: that of dominating the world without being able to control one’s own appetites.

In Kardashev’s worldview, there are no limits to hubris. Everything is expanding—like the Universe—without any ethical constraints or metaphysical thought intervening. The coldness of the “post-human mind” then resembles an inanimate body that must constantly regenerate itself by absorbing astronomical amounts of energy in order not to disintegrate. Post-human man has thus consciously decided to immolate himself in the satanic fire of technology while denying any divine origin. This astonishing contradiction might certainly amuse many if the context of our time were not so apocalyptic.

The rapid advances in nanotechnology and supercomputers suggest that Homo sapiens is heading towards an early mass extinction. We have passed through several human phases that have led us to the current era: the tribal period, the age of rituals, philosophical debate, the theological question, political debate, the age of appetites—the return to bestiality, and so on. The world of the senses (animism) gave way to that of conquest; then came philosophy, which subsequently gave way to theology. When the art of political discourse overturned the religious order, mankind invented modern science to liquidate the historical legacy.

We have now reached an insurmountable empirical limit that we can never surpass—like the Van Allen Belt—without an adequate “protective” device—a “spiritual equipment.” For why progress if, with each “innovation,” millions of human lives are lost? The great human inventions of the last millennia, based on knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, have given way to “innovations” (one new technology always replaces another) fabricated by fabulists—the followers of the steamroller that is deceptively called progress—who always fail to pay the debts they have incurred (the human legacy) to History. Is the time come to repay this spiritual debt, without which the post-human will increasingly resemble a mechanical puppet devoid of beauty or splendor?

[1] Management, from and the Old French “manège,” a term likely derived from the Italian “maneggiare” (“to lead one’s horse by hand”), is a modern process that allows one to control, direct, and manage a situation. One might therefore think that management (a purely mechanistic function that emerged in the 20^th century with automation and robotics) has sidestepped difficult questions related to existence and metaphysics in order to increase the efficiency of the “project.” But mankind is neither a project nor an end in itself; rather, it is a divine creation that requires something more than a mere “managerial” objective. In the long run, a “medical » project stemming from modern medicine may be a success, but the patient is dead!

[3] We could certainly criticize this assertion, as natural resources—including hydrocarbons—are mostly estimated and lack a scientific consensus. For over half a century, numerous doomsayers have relentlessly proclaimed a so-called “climate emergency” and a fantasized peak oil in order to promote green energy and a drastic reduction in living standards.
