An Architect in Remission · An Architect in Remission

My Incidental series will allegedly be showing at the Lower Level Gallery in Kansas City’s crossroads, with an opening tentatively scheduled for some night in September.

Yeah pretty vague, but it’s what I’ve got for now. Watch for updates!

New stairs and accessibility ramp are added to the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in Kansas City, KS. You’d hardly know they hadn’t always been there. Wonderful design work by SFS Architecture.

A beautiful, warm and welcoming place for veterans in Kansas City. Expertly designed by DRAW Architecture + Urban Design.

I discovered this lovely building returning from Columbia, MO. I’d really like to collect more such places but I’m guessing they’re scattered far and wide, might be difficult to gather a critical mass for presenting as a ‘series’. Not sure what I’d call it, anyway. Or what I’m seeing here exactly.

Years ago my sister-in-law Terri, visiting from Michigan, sat in his chair. Sheldon parked near her feet and stared. She didn’t get the message, so he placidly stepped forward and bit her on the shin — she screamed. He returned to his spot on the floor in front of her and continued the stare. Gave her a couple moments. She still didn’t get the message so he bit her again. This time she screamed and jumped up out of the chair. He hopped up to take her place and nestled in.

On many occasions he enjoyed tormenting dogs. He’d curl up for a nap just outside a glass door, the dog barking furiously just inches away on the other side. Or a couple of feet beyond the reach of a poor livid creature tethered in its back yard. It would be fair to call Sheldon a trouble maker. He will be sorely missed.

Rest in Peace, friend.
