Before I start, I want you to know how truly important you are to me. My writing and book publishing journey has been more than I could have ever imagined, all because of you, my reader. I am so grateful you have been here with me, whether for the nearly 16 years since my first book was published or for a few days, recently discovering my books and subscribing to this newsletter and Substack. You’re here, and that means everything to me.
My peace is also incredibly important to me, as well as my creativity. For the past 5-plus years, I’ve been working adamantly to protect them both, setting boundaries and letting go of what doesn’t serve them. Inner peace, creative expression, love, and connection are possibly the most critical things we should all be working to protect, support, and share as beings living this human experience.
I really wanted this Substack and newsletter to be a contributor to those. And in many ways, it is. I’ve just come to realize that I’ve also put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself with it. My author newsletter used to be monthly, unless I had a new release or big promotion. When I moved it to Substack, it was with the idea and hope that I would recommit to my writing by posting here weekly.
If you’ve been around for any length of time, you know that hasn’t worked. At all. I’ve tried and restarted a consistent posting practice many times. I really do have so much to share with you, including new stories. And I still plan to share them here first.
But my realization is that until those are ready for public eyes, I’ve been grasping at ideas for what to write about here. Which means I’ve been putting way too much time, energy, and focus on what to write here every week, and those are all very limited and precious at this point in time. I’d rather be using them toward writing the stories I have brewing for you. And I’m sure you’d prefer I did that, too.
So instead of weekly Substack posts and emails, I’ll be returning to monthly ones, with shorter pop-ins and updates in between, at least for the next few months. I do have plans for Substack to be at the center of my content and connection to readers, including, like I said, a place for my fiction to live. Unfortunately, I’m just not at that place yet, and with how my life is right now, I won’t be for a while.
Do know that I really have so much in the works. It’s just all taking longer to come into fruition than I’d hoped because life is lifing, as it does. Everything I am doing right now is with the full focus and intent on getting back to fully supporting my businesses and myself through my stories, creative expression, and meaningful contributions to the collective using my gifts. After all, gifts are for giving. Not for hiding or wasting.
I am so grateful you are here. I cannot say that enough. I want to honor you and your time with meaningful posts, news, and stories. So please let me know what you want to read about. My fiction? VanLife? My healing journey and insights that may help your own? More silly and preposterous delivery stories? Share in the comments or if this landed in your inbox, simply hit reply. I want to hear from you!
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. Until next time…be good to yourself. You deserve it.
